Masks.
Whenever grocery shopping I see a few...maybe 1 or 2 out of 50. At work the same for employees and customers coming into big box retail...1 or 2 out of 50.
I only do around my sis because she’s going through chemo.
I see less and less nowadays.
Depends on the city.
Last week in New York, there were plenty. In Chicago, same.
Vegas? No one.
Houston? Never see one.
Every time I go to the grocery store there’s people wearing masks. There’s a young guy at the beer store that wears one all the time.
interesting that the only people I see wearing masks are in their damned car with the Windows rolled up. but there was this one guy last week who was on his bike wearing a mask...on a bike trail. ALONE! go figure.
I saw three yesterday, all Asian/Pacific Islanders.
Probably 1 in 500 here in raleigh.
Here in the suburbs of Seattle it is just sad to see so many young people still walking home from school alone with a mask on. And not even Asian. Many older folks too, especially in the stores.
During the height of the pandemic I was in Montana. What a culture shock from everyone in Seattle wearing masks and hunkered down. In 6 weeks there it was VERY rare to see anyone wearing a mask.
If you went into a busy supermarket in San Francisco today at this very hour, I’d estimate that you’d see about 10% of people (customers and staff) masked. These are people who began masking in 2020 and will likely be masking for the rest of their lives. It’s a strange thing, as over the course of 2021-23, the other 90% gradually decided that masking was “over,” a hardcore remnant just never got the memo. Nor will they ever get it. It’s kinda sad, but, hey, it’s a free country.
I wear a mask sometimes after chemo when I may be immuno compromised and I have to be in close contact with a crowd of people. People that see me don’t know my story, so maybe they think I’m stupid. I don’t care, Margaret.
“I saw an elderly woman at a crosswalk today wearing a mask. And her hair was perfect!”
Werewolves of London
“I am still suffering a cough from some kind of virus that just won’t give up...”
Similarly, I had one that lasted for weeks longer than they’re “supposed to”. Various NPs/PAs (urgent care, allergist) and a dermatologist (w/a PhD in virology/immunology) have all said the old paradigm of “give it 3 weeks to go away) is out the window. They said recent upper resp. viral infections are lasting much longer. China? Natural mutations? Vax aftereffects?
“t I was in a leftist/lesbian book store in the “trendy” part of town last week - and probably half the people were wearing masks.”
Probably to cover up how ugly they are.
A few old sickly looking people and one girl in her 20s that works at the smoke shop. Missouri
Why do you care?
I was wearing a mask before COVID because my wife was on chemo and had no immune system. I never asked anyone else to wear one (but you were not getting into my house without one.) The oncologist told us to do that. I wouldn’t give a hoot when someone else thought about it.
If this stuff bothers you…its a sign that you need a hobby or girlfriend or something.
Some. I assume they have a compromised immune system, or have someone at home who does. Or maybe they’re sick and trying not to spread it. No big deal.
the mask wearers will always be a joke to me. but the ones that really chap me, are the ones who, along with their little mask, over exaggeratingly, jump out of your way when you are walking by. Like you have the Bubonic Plague or something that contagious. those are the ones i’d like to smack the sh*t out of...
none
Two major categories:
Blacks in inner city (at bus stops w/ masks on)
White liberals (mainly near colleges and museums).
Only the cancer patients...they can wear football helmets if they want, they are going through enough. I assume that and give them leeway.
