Maine father says he also saves thousands per month on food expenses
Justin Dudley, 48, tipped the scales at 343 pounds and a size XXXXL at his heaviest after years of carb-loading took a toll.
The self-confessed "fast-food addict" says he followed every meal with dessert — and that he spent anywhere from $1,600 to $2,400 per month on ice cream, chips and candy. In April 2024, Dudley decided enough was enough. The single dad’s only son, Ethan, was set to graduate high school that spring, according to the SWNS report.

Guy stops being a gavon. Loses weight. Film at 11.
Went from this
To this
Next challenge - help his son do the same before he gets to the same condition.
Can’t get through the “allow ads on Fox News” which I’m not willing to do, but how did the guy lose the weight? How long did it take?
Doesn’t your browser have a “Reader” view. Safari “Reader” gets rid of all that. Or use the Brave browser. His diet plan summarized (not a lot of detail in the article):
* no junk - no candy, sweets, pastries, chips, etc
* reduced carbs
* strict meal plan (not provided)
* extreme calorie counting (1,200 calories per day)
* intermittent fasting (plan not mentioned)
* drank only tea and coffee throughout the day
* one large meal 1,200 calorie meal for dinner.
* home workouts
Lost 22 pounds in the first month.
I know someone who simply cut out soda, snacks, and fast food and junk food and has lost 60+ pounds in one year and still counting.
He eats well, but did not go on any excessive 1,200 calorie/day diet. That’s not needed if you cut out the carbs.
I am losing about 10 pounds a month. Meal menus provided by Eating Well, counting calories on Lose It. No sodas and limited intake of cookies and candy. No alcohol and 60-90 minutes a day on a treadmill-1.5 mph (slow I know but I am old guy). Treadmill shows I am burning 450-500 calories.
Also I consume 1550-1650 calories per day and fast from 4 pm to 6 am the next day. Unfortunately about every 10 days or so I have a massive card attack.
So far so good!
I noticed that too. The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Like Father, like Son.
I wonder what happens to your excess skin when you lose that much weight so rapidly.
I only use Vivaldi. Never tried the reader view thing and the only one I knew that had that was Microsoft Edge, and I rarely use that even.
Thanks for that summary of the diet plan. You’re the best!
Hey, thanks for the heads up on “reader view”. I tried in on Vivaldi and it worked as you said. I’m surprised I never tried the reader view before. I just thought it was maybe a relic of the early internet where people might do that to save data fees or something lol.
Drank only Coffee and tea during the day. Dinner was strict 1200 calories.
It hangs.
I think trimming should be part of great weight loss and covered.
If there are chronic documented skin infections in the folds trimming is covered.
Thanks. I drink coffee and tea throughout the day as well. I probably need to cut back on the alcohol or go cold turkey.
What I dont get about that is that they have to pay for it.
What I mean is, there are so many people with disfiguring burns that you would think that the burned persons insurance would pay to harvest from the person that has extra.
If you donate blood or bone marrow you dont have to pay to help the person that needs it. They dont HAVE to give up the skin any more than the average person has to give up blood so arguing that the person donating is deriving a benefit really doesnt hold much water.
Plenty of cadaver skin
I had a goal to lose 50 last year. I reached 48. In fact, I was around -46 -47 almost all of December but never officially got to 50. I got sit for a few days and fell just short of 49 (i wanted a pic of the scale), but it settled back at 48.
All I did was cease fried foods, red meat only once a week, and I cut out sugar. I just looked for sugar on labels and tried to limit what I could. I don’t drink soft drinks but I stopped beer as well. I haven’t had alcohol in 14 months.
It seems like 48 is within the MOE of 50. Did you lose any weight this year?
