Indiana University has faced criticism after abruptly firing Professor XiaoFeng Wang on the same day FBI agents executed search warrants at his home. The university also removed the couple’s online profiles, causing concern among academics regarding their due process. Federal authorities have confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
Wang has brought approximately $23 million in federal grants to the university. However, Wang was barred from his office and denied access to university resources prior to his dismissal.
Veracity IIR president Doug Kouns said, “He’s right there on the cutting edge of this kind of research as far as data privacy, cybersecurity and that kind of thing, a lot of dollars in federal research grants.”
Kouns added, “Probably involved in some national security type projects which obviously brings to concern the espionage factor. Is this information, this research that’s going on here at IU or in Indiana, making its way toward somebody who shouldn’t have it?”
The notice of termination allegedly did not provide a reason, and Indiana University has refrained from providing information on the matter, citing FBI instructions. “At the direction of the FBI, Indiana University will not make any public comments regarding this investigation,” Indiana University spokesman Mark Bode said.
Bode added, “In accordance with Indiana University practices, Indiana University will also not make any public comments regarding the status of this individual.”

Don’t use US research to benefit China.
Due process is a legal term. A university is a semi-private institution.. should be private except for all the government money they suck up. There is no right to an online university profile. Or am I missing something?
I see it regularly - Chinese academics or research folks, who immigrated to the USA as adults, will often (not always though) have private companies and contacts back in China and will attempt to commercialize information and technology they have attained while working in the USA
This “industrial espionage” or technology leakage is the most common.
And yes, if it’s a very important technology targeted by the CCP, it will be outright government agents looking for this technology. This is less common, but still common enough - although the FBI has been chasing this for the last 15 years.
The university is an employer, not a government.

It’s worth remembering good ole IU is considered a significant (if not primary) actor in the creation of the gender neutral trans movement crap.
A very liberal college, that’s partly why they fired Bob Knight (IMO).
‘“ IU has a long history with gender-related research, partly due to the legacy of Alfred Kinsey, a biologist and sexologist who joined IU in the 1920s. Kinsey’s groundbreaking work on human sexuality—published in the Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (1948) and Sexual Behavior in the Human Female (1953)—challenged binary notions of gender and sexuality.”
LOL & BTTT. Thanks for posting.
No, Indiana University is a public institution.
So they require due process to be removed from a web page?
Some form of due process or valid cause for termination is often required in employment contracts.

They should get NO federal money..plenty of alumni to drain.
Started with Nixon and Slick Willie just open the barn door.
There must be 10 million of these chicoms in the U.S...
So, China not only got away with a sneak attack worse, in incident deaths and injuries, than the Japs caused at Pearl Harbor...
Similarly, the Muslims conducted a sneak attack that killed and injured about the same number of Americans... Indeed, 15 million of these vermin have been allowed to invade this country to conquer in the name of a pedophile murderer...
It is difficult not to see a trend that indicates that this country no longer has the will and stamina to protect its freedoms & liberties...
Indiana University...and Wang is involved in data privacy or cybersecurity research...
Can’t help but wonder if he was involved with Sussmann and the Alfa bank hoax thing.
See Indiana U’s Professor L. Jean Camp, from Paul Sperry:
“Clinton campaign were peddling the Trump-Alfa conspiracy theory.
Camp called for a full-blown FBI investigation into the data she pushed in the media. When the FBI dropped the case in February 2017, Camp lashed out at the bureau for closing the Trump email probe after reopening the Clinton email case. In a March 2017 tweet, she fumed, “Why did FBI kill this story before election to focus on Her Emails?” She also called for people to “join the resistance” against Trump.
Camp did not return a request for comment.”
“L. Jean Camp, computer science professor: Helped propagate the Trump-Alfa Bank conspiracy theory in the media. indiana.edu
A colleague of Lorenzen who features prominently in the project to link Trump to the Russian bank, but who is not referenced in the indictment, is L. Jean Camp, an Indiana University computer science professor who posted the dodgy data on her website and helped propagate the conspiracy theory in the media. “This person has technical authority and access to data,” she said of “Tea Leaves,” the originator of the data, vouching for her friend Lorenzen while hiding her identity.
Camp is a Democratic activist and major Hillary Clinton booster and donor. Federal campaign records show she contributed at least $5,910 to Clinton’s 2008 and 2016 campaigns, including thousands of dollars in donations around the time she and the Clinton campaign were peddling the Trump-Alfa conspiracy theory.””
