Judge James Boasberg got gutted last night: the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration can deport illegal aliens, they can invoke the Alien Enemies Act, and there’s nothing he can do to stop it. The little judge got owned, but Boasberg was mulling contempt hearings for Trump officials over the deportation flights, which is absurd. His rulings were vacated, but it seems he is hell-bent on holding this administration in contempt and beyond.
The core of his argument has been smashed into dust, but one can still be held in contempt of rulings on appeal.

PING!
JUDGE: I issued you an order.
DOJ: Your order is flawed on many levels... and the planes had already left.
JUDGE: I order you to comply.
DOJ: 1. We can’t (it’s already moot), and 2. You don’t have either the authority or the jurisdiction.
JUDGE: YOU MUST COMPLY.
SCOTUS: No, the DOJ is right.
JUDGE: Well, they’re still contemptible.
Boasberg thinks he’s a pit bull, unfortunately he bit the bumper of the Trump truck and it’s doing 100MPH. Boasberg can’t let go now. He’s doomed. The black robes club of alternative government is on full display.
You can bet he’s looking for some fool to Sue the Trump Admin on something so he can start again ,LOL
I starting to believe that what must be decided is whether the Executive Branch (individually and collectively) can be held in contempt of the Judicial Branch.
If it can, then there is no separation of powers.
Same goes for ‘contempt of Congress’.
The Executive has no powers to find either Congress or the Judiciary in ‘contempt’.
AAMoF, each of the other 2 branches must look to the Executive branch to enforce a contempt ruling.
Surely he can trump up 34 felonies from thin air. It's so easy even Alvin Bragg can do it.
I think your summation is legally correct, but I’m no lawyer (thank God)
In his photos Boasberg has kind of a pointy head - I volunteer to help him out by hammering it down some.
if Boasberg’s court lacked jurisdiction from the beginning, then his orders are void, not merely vacated. Essentially, without jurisdiction, he had no more authority than you or I to issue an order to Trump.
Eric Holder
His buddy Roberts shut the door on him this time; Coney still thinking she is protecting her kids, she can do that better from home.
Judge Blowhard is pissed because Pres. Trump blew away USAID. Blowhard’s wife and daughter were both paid directly or indirectly by USAID for Jobs that produced nothing.
If the judicial branch is allowed to control the Executive Branch in this way we no longer live in a free society.
I think these A-hole activist judges know that full well, it’s just an effort to cripple President Trump’s agenda.
“ but one can still be held in contemp”
His contempt citation would mean nothing. The judge has no police or prosecutors. Thanks Eric Holder, thanks Merrick Garland got teaching us that contempt basically means “he’s mad!”. Lol
Love it! 😁
Agreed.
The larger point still stands; Can one ‘branch’ of the government find another ‘branch’ in contempt?
And, ancillary to that, does enforcement matter when one party is ‘in control’ of one or more branches of government?
Add to that, the Judicial Branch is not beholden to any political party. Right?
To clarify: “Can one ‘branch’ of the government find another ‘branch’ in contempt?”...for exercising its Constitutional duties?
