Where is the media outrage? 16-year-old track and football star Austin Metcalf was brutally stabbed to death Wednesday morning during a championship track meet at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
Metcalf, a junior at Frisco Memorial High School, was attacked in broad daylight — at a school-sanctioned event meant to showcase hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship.
The suspect, 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony of rival school Frisco Centennial, is now charged with first-degree murder, according to Fox News.
This horrifying act of violence occurred around 10 a.m. during the University Interscholastic League’s District 11-5A championship meet. Witnesses say the attack was swift and left little time for intervention.
According to the press release:
On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Frisco Police and Fire responded to an incident at a track meet in the 6900 block of Stadium Lane. An altercation between two students resulted in one stabbing the other. Despite lifesaving measures by police and fire personnel, including CPR and the administration of blood, the 16-year-old victim died.
The suspect, identified as 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony of Frisco, is in custody and there is no further threat to the public. He has been charged with Murder, a 1st Degree Felony. No bond has been set at this time.
This is an active and ongoing investigation with resources from FPD’s School Resource Division, Patrol Division, and Criminal Investigations Division devoted to it…
The Frisco Police Department grieves with all those affected by this devastating loss and extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family, students, and staff who are experiencing unimaginable pain. The department is collaborating with the Frisco Independent School District and will continue to provide any support they need during this incredibly difficult time.
Jeff Metcalf stated that his son, Austin Metcalf, was killed after Karmelo Anthony became upset about being told he was in the wrong place, according to NBC News.
Metcalf said his son didn’t know the student who attacked him. Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, was nearby when the confrontation happened—he witnessed the stabbing and desperately tried to stop the bleeding.
“They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother’s arms,” Metcalf told NBC News.
“I rushed up there and I saw him on the gurney and I could tell — they said he wasn’t breathing. I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was, and I was very concerned, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital. And we prayed, and it’s God’s plan, I don’t understand it, but they weren’t able to save him. This is murder.”
“I’m not trying to judge, but what kind of parents did this child have? What was he taught? He brought a knife to a track meet and he murdered my son by stabbing him in the heart. The guy was in the wrong place and they asked him to move and he bowed up. This is murder,” Metcalf said.
“You know what, I already forgive this person,” he added. “Already. God takes care of things. God is going to take care of me. God is going to take care of my family.”
Frisco Memorial Principal Brook Fesco informed parents and staff in an emotional email obtained by Fox News that Metcalf had died from his injuries, calling it an “unthinkable tragedy.”
“As a parent, your guidance and support will be important in helping your child process grief. Talking about this together, face-to-face, will give you a chance to discuss how your family understands and copes with loss. You may also want to discuss with your child how to be a supportive friend to classmates,” Fesco wrote.
“This loss might remind your student of past losses as well. The most important thing you can do is provide your child a chance to be heard and to express their feelings.”

Wow, words don’t meet the need here. As a parent who traveled his son to years of competitions, I can’t start to imagine the devestation. God Bless them. Eliminate the animal.
Same old same old, perp(s) never change.
Democrats and their Rent-a-Mob will be protesting against the first-degree murder charges against the killer. Racism, ya know.
Looks totally remorseful.
The murder victim’s father’s response is shocking and ultimately will only encourage more of this feral behavior by “teens”.
Fatherlessness probably has a big impact.
There are Black hip-hop artists who say they are drugged and raped on tape and then always controlled by the heads of their recording label. Several others - one of them part of the record production team who was present at the meeting - wrote that a meeting was called where everyone was forced to sign a NDA, and it was revealed that the recording label had purchased stock in private prisons and in order to keep the prisons at the required capacity the hip-hop artists were told they must create music that glorified crime and violence. The intent was to foment Blacks to have a culture of violence.
And it worked. Anybody who speaks against the content of the music is considered racist.
There are bigger problems within any culture that would accept this as the defining feature of a whole people. Same kind of stuff that lures gang members. It will keep on until Blacks rise up and say that is NOT what it means Tobe Black.
Bringing a knife to a track meet leads me to believe this teen was looking to stab someone that day.
How sad.
As much as I would not blame Mr Metcalf for his own death, someone (his mush-brain soft christian parents?) didn’t teach him some of the basics of dealing with feral people.
He likely made the terrible mistake of thinking that because he wasn’t racist, that would mean something when interacting with feral racism.
What a sad happening. Some level of fatal disrespecting must have been felt by the stabber in that he felt free to let loose by stabbing the victim in the chest near the heart with wanton disregard for fatal effects, or perhaps that was directly the intent to kill for that perceived disrespecting?
Where I live in Michigan, Spring always brings a number of very violent incidents where young men’s’ fancies turn to settling the past Winter’s disrespecting’s, often with fatal consequences.
So, buy your logic the rest of us should be unarmed and hope that everyone there follows the law. IOW, we are defenseless.
Same stupidity that happened on the Luby’s restaurant shooting in Waco Texas back in the 80’s and everywhere else innocent people are injured or killed by someone who has a weapon. Police cannot protect you and are not, by law, required to do so.
No thanks, if I can’t carry there I don’t go.
Prayers up for the family, especially the victim’s twin brother having to watch with horror as brother bled to death.
This murder is sick, tragic, depressing, and infuriating.
This low impulse control piece of crap needs to be tried, convicted, and put down. Have to question if it was premeditated- a serious and competitive runner doesn’t bring a knife to a race.
OMG ! A BLACK KILLER! I am SHOCKED!

Such utter bs. This is why psychology is the doofus of the sciences and we have a country full of pansies. It is amazing that generations before these last two weak one’s survived countless wars and turmoil to build the greatest coutry in the world and did it without counseling.
“Same stupidity that happened on the Luby’s restaurant shooting in Waco Texas back in the 80’s...”
I believe that particular incident occurred in Killeen... not Waco.
