Say your final farewells to the “Loaded Mashed Potato Omelette,” because it’s one of the more than dozen menu items that the Cheesecake Factory has eliminated from its menu as part of a broader shakeup.
The Cheesecake Factory’s massive, spiral-bound menu, which has more than 250 items, is perhaps the most recognizable trademark of the company, but it undergoes a yearly change to keep diners coming back. That has helped the chain buck overall weakness in the casual dining sector in which only a few have been able to successfully crack the code — notably, Chili’s — while others have fallen into bankruptcy or continue to struggle.
“We’ve changed the menu twice a year, every year, for 40 years,” founder David Overton said in a 2017 interview. “That’s what keeps people interested. And it keeps us current. We don’t rest on our laurels. There’s nothing that America wants to eat that can’t go on the Cheesecake Factory menu.”
As part of this shakeup, the chain is ditching 13 menu items:
Everything Flatbread Pizza, Mushroom Burger, Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, White Chicken Chili, Spicy Cashew Chicken, Bistro Shrimp Pasta, Fried Shrimp Platter, Petite Filet, Factory Combinations, Loaded Mashed Potato Omelette, Taco Dorados and Egg, SkinnyLicious Lemon Herb Parmesan Chicken, SkinnyLicious Spicy Shrimp Pasta
But shrinkflation isn’t eating into its novel-like menu. The Cheesecake Factory is replacing the ousted items with about 20 new foods and cocktails, plus it’s getting into the “mocktail” trend. Some notable new menu items are inspired by TikTok, like the Asian Cucumber Salad that took over people’s feeds last year. Others have been pulled from its fast food rivals, like the Double Smash Burger.

I typically avoid eating in any restaurant that calls itself a factory….
Is this a satire piece?
Removing 13 menu items means it will be down to 1887 menu items now
So... theiy’re paring down 21 pages to just 20. Maybe 19.
You can keep the “loaded mashed potato omelette,” but some of those other items sound quite tasty — Mushroom Burger, Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, White Chicken Chili, Spicy Cashew Chicken, Bistro Shrimp Pasta. Is this place expensive? It seems to have a dedicated following.
Removing 13, adding 20 per the article.
Had an earlier dinner there the other day. 80 dollars for 2 . That was having 2 soft drinks with the tip included.
I typically avoid eating in any restaurant that has a menu running more than six pages. The great restaurants specialize in a few dishes and do them better than anybody else. Whereas when you try to appease everybody you often end up not pleasing anybody.
Know your wheelhouse!
Agreed. A huge menu selection is an immediate red flag for me too. It seems like CF is barely making a dent in its “YUGE” menu. No thanks….
Amen! If a menu has more than 20 choices on it, I’m always leery.
“Whereas when you try to appease everybody you often end up not pleasing anybody”
Good point. I also worry about the quality/freshness of items on gigantic menus. If you’re the only guy all day who orders the lasagna, what the hell are you getting?
The perfect keep-it-simple-stupid operation that I can think of is In-N-Out Burger: burgers, fries, drinks. That’s it. No chicken nuggets. No chicken sandwiches. No tacos. No onion rings. No pies. No cookies. No sundaes.
Like the Chinese take-out restaurant that has 500 menu items packed onto its one-sheet, double-sided, laminated menu card
And they all come out with the same brown sauce anyway.
How does a restaurant keep ingredients for 250 menu items in stock?
“The Taco Bell principle”?
Yeah, it’s pricey. I’ve been a couple time, never thought it was particularly worth the money and haven’t been to one in probably 10 years.
Well, Chinese restaurants usually have tons of dishes on the same menu but fortunately they are all made with the same 10 ingredients.
I would normally agree. But in the case of CCF, at least my local one, they seem to pull off the gargantuan menu quite well. I don’t eat there often, but I have never been disappointed with any food selection I have made.
The restaurant that sells death.
Yup. Cats, snow peas, water chestnuts, mini corns, ginger, peppers, onions, broccoli, teriyaki, and msg.
They failed to get me to come back. Cheesecake is not cake.
Asian salad is from Logan’s Fewd. It looks pretty good. Lots of variations on internet. He does put MSG in his
