Just make note of the essential people that have to stay and work. Should provide a valuable baseline.

No. The Democrats intend to throw Brer Trump into the briar patch.

I think Napoleon said, "Never interrupt an enemy when he is making a mistake."

I share your view.

Bonus—the federal courts are closed during a government shut-down.

Extra bonus—this is a great time to shut down entire buildings of federal agencies—for good.

Triple bonus—President Trump can choose not to pay federal employees during the shut-down. It is his call.

All it takes is a bit of courage and determination. I am convinced this administration can get it done.

The leftists are going to whine and howl anyway—might as well accomplish great things and not look back.

Yes, a government shut down does two things.

1. It shows that whatever gets shutdown is not a necessity.

2. It gives DOGE free access to every shut down part without any employee interference.................

PDF: Guidance for Shutdown Furloughs

1. What is a furlough?

A. A furlough is the placing of an employee in a temporary nonduty, nonpay status because of lack of work or funds, or other nondisciplinary reasons.

So, apparently once the shutdown s over they are still employed.

I agree. It’s a perfect opportunity to identify unnecessary employees. It also gives DOGE access to things without interference. The dems are helping DOGE.

Ok first DOGE does not have the authority to fire workers. What they do is make recommendations. They are finding fraud, kickbacks, grift, and outright theft of taxpayer money and “heavens forbid” publishing that information. The Hyperbole that DODGE is some “boogieman” is just that... the screaming of the grifters trying to divert attention from their theft.

To put it simply DOGE is an auditing team making recommendations to the CEO(Trump) for how to streamline the business....

Yes, it does. The people on my street that enjoy a federal government paycheck have been at home for years. Now they roam the neighborhood shopping for sympathy because they are not going to be paid to sit at home.....Two USAID and one State Department people.

Regardless of your politics, I think we've seen enough.

Does a Government Shutdown Play Right Into the Hands of D.O.G.E. ?

It should be pronounce "doggie"...as in a bloodhound/pitbull mix. (blood-pit)

That does seem to be the case. A shutdown divides the government corpus into the living and the dead, the necessary and the unnecessary.

The Dems are on their heels either way. Trump is on offense, and even in a time out he is advancing his vision.

Prediction: Schumer is going the way of Pelosi. He will begin to sputter, and not long from now. The FBI wants to talk to him about threatening Supreme Court justices.

Remember the Obama shut down where he closed all the parks and monuments but left massive swaths of government open and operating?

I see Trump using that very thing, except this time the agencies that are shut down will not be a slap in our faces.

On a side note. There's no rule or law that states those furloughed automatically get backpay.

So I hope Chuck U shuts the government down. A shut down also gives DOGE more unfettered time going through the shut down agencies books without being hampered by the subversives working there.

Is past shutdowns, Federal employees were always retroactively paid for off times. Probably not this time.

Once the government shutdown is resolved federal employees are usually paid for their time off due to the shutdown, thus no money is saved by the shutdown.
