This is a simple question, but one that needs you to seriously consider before you respond. This is because, when you think about it, you will then be confronted with the reality that most of the wars America has been in since the end of WWII have nothing to do with our national interests.
Now we could argue whether or not WWI was in our best interest. Yet since the end of WWII, other than a very few instance, our military actions have almost exclusively been because of problems caused by European nations. (Both Western and Eastern nations) Mind you, I speak historically, so you may have to go back to choices made by European countries years before a conflict began. Some problems fester quite some time before the lid blows, yet the original problem was created years earlier.
Many many American lives and trillions of dollars have been waisted over the last 100 years because Europeans seldom gets along with each other or even with the rest of the World. When I look into the genesis of wars we ended up in, especially since WWII, I continually see European countries convincing American war hawks to step in and help.
It is a fact that the vast majority of wars around the World in the 20th century has been caused by European colonialism due to their desire to expand their power and influence for resources which they themselves lack. Yes, I will add Eastern Europe into this, which means Russia also, whether it be as the Soviet Union or as Russia under Putin. Yes communism is a real threat, yet if you truly look at the way European countries went around the world colonizing countries for the specific purpose of gaining their resources, then you will see how the local citizens were easily persuaded to join the communist's in a desire to get their country back. OK, blame them for being ignorant of what communism means, yet at the time the bigger enemy was the Western European nations.
Now I do not claim America is totally guiltless, nor do I claim the communists were the good guys. I look at the genesis of the problems. A big moment in Europe was when Truman decided to do the European leaders a favor by agreeing drawing the lines of who will police which areas that were previously under Nazi control. Adding insult to injury, Truman then pushed for the Marshall plan that helped rebuild ONLY Western European countries. Amazing how they conveniently left the Eastern countries to depend upon the communist Soviet Union for help. It is well documented that the Marshall plan pushed Stalin into a corner, which led him to eventually lock Eastern Europe into slavery for the next 50 years which led to the Cold War. The 4 year Marshal plan from 1948 to 1951 was a $13.3 billion (equivalent to $173.8 billion in 2025) should never ever had taken place.
We could also go back to the end of WWI when European leaders decided to divide up the Middle East into various countries by putting their hand picked dictators in power, instead of setting up Democracies. A problem they doubles down on after WWII, by removing some and putting new dictators in power. Neither time did they demand democratic rule. To this day the Middle East continuously has problems because the vast majority were once oppressed by dictatorial leaders who benefited from Western money for the oil, then later by Islam rulers we helped to overthrow the dictators we put in place. So now Islam is rearing it's Dark Age ugly head by becoming the lesser of two evils between the Islamic leaders and the tyrannical dictatorships installed by Western Europeans after WWI and WWII.
Today, these Islamic extremists are moving into Africa, which have also suffered through the years from both Western European colonization and Eastern European expansion via the Soviet Union. Consider this, outside of the very Northern parts of Africa, most of Africa has been divided up and colonized by European countries to satisfy their hunger of natural resources they lack. Like the Middle East, the people would became tired of their tyrannical rulers, and started grumbling for freedom from their European Lords.
Yet for too long these European countries refused to allow those nations to be free from their rule. Eventually, wanting freedom from the Western European countries so bad they would find allies in the Soviet Union (a Western European country) who helped them fight for what they thought was freedom. Like the Far Eastern countries, these people were clueless of the ramifications of making deals with communists, because they just wanted freedom. After all, the colonizing nations of Europe had allowed the problems to fester so long and get so bad that most of the continent would eventually became an open sore. Yet today, we hear these leftists in Europe continually accuse the United States of creating the problems they are guilty of.
This is one of the reasons I blame Europeans for many of Americas internal problems. Both Western and Eastern European countries have supported leftists causes in the USA to benefit Europe by funding politicians in America that push for laws and regulations which limit our ability to use out own resources. Mind you, America is so resource rich that we have no need to depend on the rest of the World. Yet today America suffers from the way the Communist Democrats, and Deep State Republicans, have through the years pushed laws and regulations that force businesses to move over seas while, making it illegal to even use our own resources like oil, wood, fish, land, etc. etc. etc. This has created a situation where Europe, South America, the Middle East and Africa, have all benefited from these anti-American policies. Which eventually just added to the conflicts around the World.
Add all this together and we can see how America has become nothing more than a tool of the rest of the World, thanks to our so-called friends across the pond in Europe. Now I get into the wars we find ourselves continually in. We pulled Europe out if 2 World Wars, and after the second one, we ended up becoming the the big brother who stepped in every time they had a problem. Other than 9/11, which in a round about way was Europe's fault as I pointed out pretty much every war from Vietnam and forward has come from problems stemming from Western and Eastern countries.
It has gotten so bad that Eisenhower's warning came true, the industrial complex mentality, has led America to become involved in every stupid military scrimmage that raises it's ugly head. Even though we have no direct national interest in them. At 68 years old, I have seen my share of wars, that American politicians continually claim is our responsibility. Well I for one am 100% in agreement with Donald Trump. It is high time we let the World take care of their own problems, instead of expecting America to bail them out every time.
Yes, we must again become isolated when it comes to war. We can still have the top notch best military to defend ourselves and keep the bad guys quaking in their boots, but it won't cost as much because we won't be supplying weapons the rest of the World needs to continue their warmongering ways. Besides, every time we step to help others in trouble, we are the ones who are always blamed, because in every war there is a loser, and the losers will eventually want to come after the ones dropping the bombs. AKA 9/11.
So, I say we should let them fight their own wars, and stop letting them turn is into the bad guy after we pull their ass out of the fire time and time again. Then, and only then can we truly make America great again. Which is why we elected Donald Trump.
Your thoughts?
come on Chuck. you (and i) really know why:
James 4:1-8, NKJV
Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?
(look at some of the posters, commenters on FR, thank God not most!)
You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
(zelinskites, putinists, obie, biden, pelosi, bernie, schumer, graham, bushies, mccainites, etc.)
You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
(politicians, thune, johnson, mcconnell, msm, media, unelected bureaucrats, deepstate, CIA, FBI, etc.)
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
(transhumanists, globalists, tech bros, lobbyists, weaponeers)
Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore submit to God.
(praise and thank God!)
Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
(who resists? athiest europe, islam, pantheists?)
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
(this, and ‘Fight, Fight, Fight...)
We as stated bailed them out in WW 2. Gone are the Eisenhowers and Churchill who knew what freedom meant and cost.
Today’s politicians, minus Trump, are all in for the military industrial complex that Ike warned about so it’s natural that non US interests are continued mainly for $$$ and not peace
9-11 was not caused by our involvement in European wars.
Just like the Barbary Coast wars were not caused by our involvement in European wars, unless you count the Revolutionary war. (England stopped protecting us from the Barbary Coast Islamic States, because we became an independent political entity).
We should be involved in wars when it is in our interest to be involved in wars. It is always a judgement call.
Exactly. And it is getting worse as the EU and most of its members are going full Fascist and are hell bent on a war with Russia.
True and amen
Well, it goes back to WW2 (which of courses, goes back to WW1), in which the West, in order to shorten a war which was definitely was a threat to the US, the West aided wicked, pogrom premier Stalin so much that it became an advancing army which (via FDR's consent) conquered Berlin before the West, thereby obtaining many key scientists, etc., and enabled the Soviet Union to extend its control of Eastern Europe, taking over the governments in Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, East Germany, Poland, Romania and Yugoslavia. The Baltic countries—Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania—were made into republics. Even Finland was partly controlled by the Soviets. Only Greece and occupied Austria remained free. Russia also took a large portion of Poland and Poland in return was given a large portion of Germany. (https://factsanddetails.com/russia/History/sub9_1e/entry-4975.html)
Therefore the West has been fighting proxy wars with Russian off and on for over 70 years, as it is in Ukraine due to Putin's lust for old Soviet "glory." His claim that he needed to conquer Ukraine because of the threat of NATO (2-3% GPD on defense), while invading Ukraine only strengthened the argument of NATO as to warrant.
Meanwhile, NATO countries have overall gone liberal, while rampant corruption has long existed in Ukraine (as in Russia) and it drifts Left to please her allies. The US Left opposes Putin as being competition for dominion, and not being a team player, as he significantly opposes the liberal Left (partly for political purposes), though he hinders conservative evangelicals since they are outside the one true state church, and he is unwilling to greatly reduce abortion and use of contraception while facing a demographic crises.
However, only one country (outside China) is at present an ongoing nuclear military threat, and has signed mutual aid pacts with China, N. Korea, and Iran. With friends like that...
Yet the foundational problem is that the West needs to get back to God whom it now overall wars with, and needs to come to effectual penitent, heart-purifying, regenerating, justifying faith in the gospel of grace (Acts 10:43-47, 15:7-9; Titus 3:5)
“ A deal has to get made.”
Russia simply has to state their negotiating position. They are going to keep all of Ukraine they seized during this war and call it a day. End of story. Ukraine can say no and another 100k people from both countries will die and Russia will still be holding if not slowly increasing their gains. The EU can jump in and create WW3 and Russia can threaten a nuclear exchange.
We should be neutral and continue to push for peace.
You’re right. The US established itself as a mercantile power early on by being to able to sell to anyone because it had no restrictive alliances or treaties with anyone.
Not so. Stalin began enslaving Eastern Europe from the moment his soldiers moved in. The Marshall Plan originally included Eastern Europe, but Stalin refused to let the countries under his control accept it.
Listening, what I gather is exceptional wise, long-term one party domination (13 consecutive elections) of capitalist leadership, fostering foreign investment (requiring English speaking helps), but extensive regulated economic freedom and confidence, yet with strict laws on disorderly behavior. And and a strong military, with required 2 years of service for males. Which Biblical principals, enabling rise from decay, dysfunction, strife and economic and social distress to a prosperous wise governed example of capitalism.
Problem with such is that leadership can change to be bad, plus it is vulnerable to China's military as well as war btwn Chicoms and US and thus economic disaster. Neutrality is problematic.
Most important, as only 18.9% "Christian," mainly RC, it should be seen as warranting more evangelism of holy faith. Only the true God can enable victory over affluence and adversity and affliction, prosperity as well as persecution,

Singapore consistently maintains a "One China" policy and opposes independence for Taiwan. We took this fundamental position even before we established diplomatic relations with the PRC.
Singapore is a parliamentary representative democratic republic in which the President of Singapore is the head of state, the prime minister of Singapore is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. One commonly cited reason for a lack of opposition in Singapore is the use of defamation lawsuits by the PAP to bankrupt political opponents and disqualify them from running for office when accusations were made against the ruling party.[11][12] Cases include former leader of the WP J. B. Jeyaretnam and leader of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) Chee Soon Juan, who were bankrupted in 2001 and 2011 respectively.[13][14][15]
Another reason given is the pursuit of legal action against journalists and bloggers critical of the PAP and its policies.[8][16] Reporters Without Borders cites such lawsuits, along with attempts at making critical journalists unemployable, among its concerns when ranking the country 151st in the world for press freedom in 2017.[17]
The PAP has in the past threatened voters by saying that constituencies voting for opposition MPs would be put at the bottom of the list for public housing programs.[18][19][20] In 1998, then PAP secretary-general, Goh Chok Tong said, "By linking the priority of upgrading to electoral support, we focus the minds of voters on the link between upgrading and the people whose policies make it possible. This has the desired result.".[21] As recently as 2011 Lee Hsien Loong expressed that there has to be a distinction between opposition wards and the ones that voted for the PAP in terms of housing upgrades.[22]
The boundaries of electoral constituencies in Singapore are decided by the Elections Department, which is under the control of the Prime Minister's Office.[23] Electoral boundaries are redrawn just a few days before the general election.[23][24] There have been accusations of gerrymandering via dissolving of constituencies with relatively stronger opposition support, such as the Cheng San Group Representation Constituency (GRC).[25]
In July 2020, the ruling party, the PAP, won 83 out of 93 seats and 61.2% of the popular vote in the general election, meaning the PAP won its 13th consecutive general election since Singapore's independence. However, the result was a significant decline from the 2015 election.[26] - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Singapore

Good breakdown.
I agree with the problems of the state run party’s loyalty to ideologies abhorrent to America’s Christian values. Add in their loyalty to countries apposed to our partners like Israel shows they lean heavily Islamic in their loyalty.
Plus their loyalty to China comes from China being 90% responsible for their wealth, so push comes to shove they would not cross China.
No manmade system will ever work in reality, because mankind’s true destination is to be with GOD.
Someone said that the most efficient government is a dictatorship, yet even they are only as good as the dictator in power.
You eluded to this. Yet one day the leader will inevitably be more dedicated to his power than the good of the nation, and that is when it will begin to fail.
You mean the US is only a minute part of this? i think not. Meanwhile, all that coastline is a big asset, as well as danger. Not much of a buffer state.
I do not mean to say that, because it is obvious the trade from China to the US goes through Singapore.
Yet the close proximity of China does make them an easier target for elimination. Thus they will fear the Bengal Tiger next door more than they will the Lion the other side of the planet.
Even if it is foolish, it is a fact that they do.
Still, going back the the reason for my post.
After being screwed over by our so called allies for the last 80 years, I think it high time for Europe to defend themselves.
Especially in the last 20 years, their open hostility to us for wanting to me America first has gotten tiring. Too often European politicians play the victim card against America to get elected by their citizens, so in the last 20 years the majority of Europeans have grown hate us.
When my old friends turn their children against my children, then I stop being friend, and ignore them when they are in need. There must be consequences to their constant back stabbing ways.
For me, the final straw was when they joined the American left to destroy America by setting up Trump during his first term.
With friends like them we don’t need enemies, and we surely do not need to support them in a war they wanted to happen.
Yes, , NATO countries have overall gone liberal, and fawned over Obama, and immigration and birth rates thereof position Islam one day being in control
Listened to it, and one point i take issue with is the idea that the US need have no part in opposing a (Chicom, Muslim atheist-allied) nuclear enemy 5k miles away since (suicidal liberal) Western Europe is increasingly ideologically opposed to conservatives and should be able to deal with military threats by themselves. This tortoise-shell isolationism is ignorant as was the isolationist movement in the 1930's. Some today even question if US involvement in WW1 and 2 was essential, the latter with its alliance with a very ideologically contrarian leader (but which gave and conceded far too much), and that US military presence as in the containment of Chicom expansion is superfluous.
The problem with such isolationism is that apart from supernatural intervention, which goes back to the need for national revival of evangelical faith akin to past Great Awakenings, then aside from Starfleet of phaser ships then isolationism not practical for a nation being chastised for its departure from the living God, presuming it should continue in hope of future repentance. Let Iran control the strait of Hormuz and communists the S. Chinese sea and find out how that would affect the US.
For its part, NATO has deterred Soviet expansion, with and if Ukraine was part of NATO Putin - who longs for legacy Soviet glory - would not have twice invaded it. The question is, would Europe be better off under Putin's repression - which would only become more so if not opposed (there would be no FreeRepublic.com, at least not with posts as mine) than with the increasingly more immoral (in many basic ways) Left than Russia (contraception, abortion, alcoholism, corruption, etc. are still be high in Russia, and church attendance low).
While spiritually, the evangelical church is purified by persecution, but which both the Left and Putin provide against those whom the state church whether it be Wokeism (which is indeed a "faith-based" ideology, baptizing in the waters of wokeducation) or that of the Putin State Church with its KBG heritage (and since 2018,under Russia/s Yarovaya law missionary activities may only be performed without hindrance at designated churches and other religious sites by authorized members of registered religious groups and organization), and as poor than as materially sufficient, yet but as with slaves (who are more likely to be spiritually in it than as free and affluent), yet "if thou mayest be made free, use it rather." (1 Corinthians 7:21)
And the problem is that relative very few Christians seek to live holy (which I need more victory in) dedicated lives and evangelize, to make "manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place," (2 Corinthians 2:14) and to work the works of Him that sent us, while it is day, for the night cometh, when no man can work. (John 9:4) May I and we do so more.

I am seriously wondering what's the difference between the European Union and Russia. As for China, I can send you many news reports quoting Canadian politicians continually taking sides with China over the US, Trudeau being one of them . We are the Worlds power, we do not need the European Unions for anything. They need us. So we either force them to get in line, or cut the leash and watch them fall.
We are the Worlds power, we do not need the European Unions for anything. They need us.
Actually, the US would lose in a prolonged war with China, to whom it traded most of its production ecosystem, and the US would be looking for allied help in a war with the Chicoms, and which would also involved N. Korea and likely Iran, and its ally, Russia. China however, is patient, since a war would still costly, and it sees the US becoming weaker each year, and with the military itself being alarmingly dependent on Chinese parts.
Under Trump, at best, the US can only be expected to stave China off for the next 4 years, and if the sacred economy is not much better, post Christian US is likely to vote for a "hope and change" democrat.
