In an unprecedented purge of the military’s senior leadership Friday night, President Donald Trump fired the top US general just moments before his defense secretary fired the chief of the US Navy and the vice chief of the Air Force.Trump announced he was dismissing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Q. Brown and replacing him with Air Force Lt. Gen. John Dan “Razin” Caine – an extraordinary move since Caine is retired, according to an Air Force official, and is not a four-star general.

“Finally, I have also directed Secretary [of Defense Pete] Hegseth to solicit nominations for five additional high level positions, which will be announced soon,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Minutes later, Hegseth released a statement announcing he’d fired Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the chief of the Navy.
The removal of the second Black man to serve as America’s most senior general and the first woman to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff appears to send a strong signal from an administration that has outlawed diversity and inclusion efforts across the military and wider government.
Hegseth called Franchetti a “DEI hire” in his 2024 book, in which he wrote: “If naval operations suffer, at least we can hold our heads high. Because at least we have another first! The first female member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff — hooray.”
Hegseth on Friday also said that Gen. James Slife, the vice chief of the Air Force, had been fired, and that he was “requesting nominations” for the Judge Advocates General for the Army, Navy and Air Force, indicating they will be replaced.

Unprecedented! Right
The msm aren’t even a news source anymore why even do you need a reporter when you have easy access the primary source, president Trumps post? Technology and Trump is killing the MSM and the left
Thanks for that reference!
“unprecedented purge of military leadership”
CNN just can’t stop lying and making up their own version of history:
off the top of my head, i recall from history that:
Harry Truman fired Douglas MacArthur for insubordination
President Roosevelt fired Admiral Richardson for insubordination, and stupidly had General George S. Patton demoted into irrelevance until he needed Patton to save his bacon in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge ...
President Lincoln routinely fired generals until he finally got one that would fight
President Jimmy Carter fired Major Gen. John K. Singlaub
Chief of the navy? When did the navy start appointing enlisteds to be " chief of the navy".
No wonder people are stupid, at least those who listen to the MSM! It's Admiral, I would have even accepted fleet commander. But chief of the navy? This isnt a pow wow.. ?
The reporter is a moron.
I’m no fan of CNN, certainly. But, it IS unprecedented for any administration to fire two or more members of the joint chiefs at one fell swoop.
That said, Zero’s assault on the military laid the groundwork for all the WOKE/DEI BS that has followed, and I applaud Trump and Hegseth for their work to restore the US military to its former glory.
To paraphrase an excellent American… “ we have not yet begun to fight”…
CNN gonna need cases of pepto-bismal….
Fortunately, preparing for war is not invite war but, quite the contrary, tends to deter war.
Judging from Trump's stated philosophy and judging from his actions trying to withdraw America from Syria, setting up withdrawal from Afghanistan, insisting on a settlement of the war in Ukraine, and opening a dialogue with Russia and China, all these facts suggest that Trump has no hidden agenda to wage a war.
My comments are in no way to suggest anything to the contrary.
Yes. Exactly right.
If you are a 4 star under the last administration then I question your qualifications.
Top of the list is woke and DEI.
unprecidented?
Unprecedented? Obama did it.
“He wasn’t fired because he is black, he was fired because he is incompetent.”
Maybe both. His racist blackness made him hyper-focused on DEI instead of his job, and that made him incompetent.
Plus, he visibly oozed hatred toward Trump, so not a team player. As much as he despised PDJT, he should’ve resigned between 11/5/24 and 1/20/25.
“I hope General Milley is let go, too, at some point.”
He retired in 2023. Now there’s talk that he might be called back into service so he can be court martialed.
Taking out the Trash
Milly needs to be recalled to active duty and Court- Martialed.
Don’t forget Peanut farmer fired Gen Singlaub in Korea.
Call a Navy Warrant "chief" sometime. LoL.
Trump has not forgotten or forgiven how during his first Presidency so many in the Federal bureaucracy tried to ignore him, turn on him, or were already committed to getting him in the back before he was sworn in. He now knows who he can't or can't trust, who will and won't do their jobs, and who thinks federal employment allows them to do whatever they want unchecked. He is firing en masse everyone he can't trust and won't do their jobs.
That Trump is firing people like this should not surprise anyone. What is surprising is how so many are treating it as a surprise. What did the careerists in DC think was going to happen when Trump returned?
