In an unprecedented purge of the military’s senior leadership Friday night, President Donald Trump fired the top US general just moments before his defense secretary fired the chief of the US Navy and the vice chief of the Air Force.Trump announced he was dismissing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Q. Brown and replacing him with Air Force Lt. Gen. John Dan “Razin” Caine – an extraordinary move since Caine is retired, according to an Air Force official, and is not a four-star general.

“Finally, I have also directed Secretary [of Defense Pete] Hegseth to solicit nominations for five additional high level positions, which will be announced soon,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Minutes later, Hegseth released a statement announcing he’d fired Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the chief of the Navy.
The removal of the second Black man to serve as America’s most senior general and the first woman to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff appears to send a strong signal from an administration that has outlawed diversity and inclusion efforts across the military and wider government.
Hegseth called Franchetti a “DEI hire” in his 2024 book, in which he wrote: “If naval operations suffer, at least we can hold our heads high. Because at least we have another first! The first female member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff — hooray.”
Hegseth on Friday also said that Gen. James Slife, the vice chief of the Air Force, had been fired, and that he was “requesting nominations” for the Judge Advocates General for the Army, Navy and Air Force, indicating they will be replaced.

Obama's Military Coup Purges 197 Officers In Five Years
excerpt:
"Defense: What the president calls "my military" is being cleansed of any officer suspected of disloyalty to or disagreement with the administration on matters of policy or force structure, leaving the compliant and fearful."
"We recognize President Obama is the commander-in-chief and that throughout history presidents from Lincoln to Truman have seen fit to remove military commanders they view as inadequate or insubordinate. Turnover in the military ranks is normal, and in these times of sequestration and budget cuts the numbers are expected to tick up as force levels shrink and missions change."
"Yet what has happened to our officer corps since President Obama took office is viewed in many quarters as unprecedented, baffling and even harmful to our national security posture. We have commented on some of the higher profile cases, such as Gen. Carter Ham. He was relieved as head of U.S. Africa Command after only a year and a half because he disagreed with orders not to mount a rescue mission in response to the Sept. 11, 2012, attack in Benghazi."
CNN, endlessly outraged headline news.
I hate to tell them we’re just warming up.
BTTT
Thanks...God forbid the media should do its homework.
Also: Obama: -—> “Other removals include the sacking of two nuclear commanders in a single week — Maj. Gen. Michael Carey, head of the 20th Air Force, responsible for the three wings that maintain control of the 450 intercontinental ballistic missiles, and Vice Adm. Tim Giardina, the No. 2 officer at U.S. Strategic Command.”
The most recent and ‘top of the resume’ is that they were in charge during the Afghanistan withdrawal. That’s all that needs to be said in the firing.
Exactly. CNN lies again.
Why do we keep pretending they are a valid news source? Like CBS, NBC, ABC, AP, Reuters et al, they are a source of propaganda, not actual news. Who was it again who rightly called them “fake news?”
I don’t. I regard them as sometimes useful for comedy.
Asking CNN to tell the truth is like asking the sun not to set.
I believe that the military and in particular each soldier serves at the pleasure of the Commander In Chief. At the start of WWII, a lot of the senior command were peace time personnel that were not suited to lead men in combat or fight their ship. Many were fired for lack of a better term. By the end of the first year or warfighters had or were emerging. I believe Trump and Hegseth are trying to make sure we are ahead or at least even with the curve. It also signals the lower down rank folks to roll out and get ready to draw ammo. Get squared away, or go away. EOS
CNN tries to pull the race card.
He wasn’t fired because he is black, he was fired because he is incompetent.
Card denied.
Thanks for the chuckles. But what’s really impressive is that you are here posting at 3:30 in the morning. And coherently.
I’m on the 4-12 shift at work. I should be heading to bed sooner than this of course.
When you do finally hit the sheets, have a good sleep. I am just getting up. Must face the 18 degree global wwrming, here in the sunny south.
These firings will ripple all the way down through the ranks. Clear down to the enlisted ranks. The everyday times are changing. You can’t pass gas in the halls of the pentagon without the word hitting the engine room on a ship in the Indian Ocean. The military has a network that fires info and rumor through at light speed. It’s been that way a long time before I served and that was a long time ago.
That’s “warming.” And that’s Fahrenheit.
