The Secret Service is investigating after a New Jersey teacher allegedly threatened President Trump on social media.
Fred Wilson, a special education and social studies teacher at Egg Harbor Township High School, allegedly wrote, “I think we are at the moment where assassination is at least a talking point,” on Facebook, according to the Secret Service and reports.
The post first came under fire after a screenshot of his account was shared on the Libs of TikTok X account.
“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the incident involving comments made online by a teacher in the Egg Harbor Township, NJ,” the Secret Service told The Post. “…The Secret Service takes all threats related to our protectees seriously.”
Another of Wilson’s social media posts read, “F--- Trump and F--- You for Voting for Him.”
Trump survived two assassination attempts before the November election.
Egg Harbor Township Schools are investigating, Superintendent Kim Gruccio told the Press of Atlantic City.

Talk of assassination is getting a little edgy, in any context. Not exactly forbidden, but even with “freedom of speech” and all, those who speak of such things are held to the consequences of their words, even if they do not carry out the act themselves. It may be enough for a more suggestible person to believe permission has been given for a contemptible act.

OTOH, the "F*** Trump and F*** you for voting for him" comment is protected free speech -- albeit vulgar and obnoxious. Political opinions were the explicit subject of the 1A.
It's no different from the "F*** Biden and F*** you for voting for him" comments that I recall seeing posted here during his term. You and I have the right to express our contempt for SOBs like Biden and his supporters; we have to grant that same right to those with different, even opposite, views.
Egg Harbor is a conservative area...and I’ve seen issues like this from all over the country...it only takes one insane liberal to post it and there are some insane liberals EVERYWHERE.

I have an almost ZERO anger threshold (I’m working on it) but even I am not dumb enough (or mean enough or hateful enough) to want to see people I disagree with violently injured or worse..no less SAY IT in a public forum!

Not all speech is protected in all contexts. Death threats to the President might not be strictly illegal, but they'll get you in a bunch of trouble nonetheless. Like slander and "fighting words", some speech carries consequences that push it out from under the safety umbrella of the 1A.
It's like the saying, "You can ignore reality, but you can't escape the consequences of ignoring reality." So, yeah, "You can say that, but you can't escape the consequences of saying it."

Lots of empty DC jail cells available since January 20, to say nothing of a precedent of tossing people in them with the absence of normal process for those designated as threats to the powers-that-be.
My school’s ratio was about 50/50 of cons to Dems teachers. What I noticed is the cons were moderate mostly while most of the Dems were radicals.
And that was a rural school, I assume city schools are farther left.

I remember when BO was first running for POTUS and a girl from one of his call banks sent the SS to a woman, in TX, I think, because she said she would never vote for anyone advocating for the murder of unborn children.
The woman was shaken to the core over the visit from the SS and the questioning - she had made no threats, nothing - the call bank worker was just a punk who wanted to make a point with a woman because she wasn’t voting for BO.
I hope this man is called on the carpet - watch what the school does as well.

While distasteful, such comments are free speech and no more incendiary than the many times that folks here have suggested a permanent end for many in the O’Biden regimes including the principals. The huge difference is that there are very few conservatives that would be moved to vigilante action than are found on the left. Every uber-violent movement like BLM etc are leftist in origin and are frequently in the news for arson and murder.
Groups on the right (supremacists etc) tend to get together out in the country on weekends to target practice and grump about the FedGov. They then go back to their families and their jobs and continue to contribute to society in some way. No buildings are burned, no innocents are murdered.
