The Ford F-150 pickup truck is no longer America's top selling vehicle according to a new Forbes report citing data from automotive data and analysis from JATO Dynamics.
After 40 years at the top of the list, Forbes states data from JATO Dynamics shows the Toyota RAV 4 is the new top-selling vehicle in the United States. The SUV sold 475,193 units in 2024, topping Ford F-150's 460,915 units sold. The swap reflects an increase of 9% in sales for the RAV 4 compared to a decrease of 5% of the popular pickup.
The Honda CRV ranked third in sales, followed by the Tesla Model Y, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Rogue, Honda Civic, and GMC Sierra 1500 rounding out the top ten per JATO Dynamics data.
Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) shares sold for about $25 apiece in early 2022. Recently, they dropped near their 52-week low of $9.10. What was a promising move into electric vehicles (EVs) has turned out to be multi-billion-dollar losses. Its sales and profits in China, the world’s largest car market, are shaky. CEO Jim Farley said, “So far, what we’re seeing is a lot of cost and a lot of chaos,” referring to tariffs and the new administration’s plans to help U.S. manufacturers.

The computer you’re on right now, the TV you watch later, and the phone in your pocket all came from China. And many many other daily essentials.
But just stay on your high horse about American companies instead of foreign outfits.
However when a China made Buick is sold, GM pockets the sales profit, not China.
toyota pickup trucks are better than honda pickup trucks...
Nice. We opted for a SuperCrew with EcoBoost V6 in 2015. It is our 3rd F150. I'm planning to retire this year, so we won't be buying more vehicles.
I’ve owned 4 Toyotas for the past 30 years.
Two Camrys and two Prius ( I first bought one in 2008 and now own another).
The first Camry served me for 250,000 miles reliably for nearly 20 years.
I have owned my second Camry for 10 years, and it has 120,000 on it without causing any major problems.
I just sold my 2008 Prius for $1,000 dollars with over 200,000 miles on it. It was still running well when I sold it.
These Toyota cars are just RELIABLE if you regularly maintain them.
why did “Bobbyvotes” change his screen name from “entropy12”?...
i caught this a while back...
it’s in my posting history...
Mine would fit in the garages too, except the space is occupied by 8 motorcycles. Pre-2008, the garage included a Saturn SL2 and Porsche 914. The 914 was sold to a party to fully restore. The Saturn SL2 got t-boned by a teenager on drugs in Idaho Falls. We also had a Saturn SW2. That one was t-boned by a car full of drunk Mexican teenagers in Chula Vista, CA on the evening of my 30th high school reunion. The insurance settlement from the SW2 funded purchase of the used 1999 F150 with 22,000 miles on the odometer in August 2003. It has 64000 now. I don't drive much.
True ... Honda doesn’t really have any pickup trucks.
I don’t consider the Ridgeline to be a real truck.
The Prime?
My phone died, I got a new phone and had to log in to FR and could not remember password. it was easier to create new account. Besides I like my name Bobby coz my dad was called me Bobby, every one else called me baba.
So do the iPhones are made in China. But I still own Apple stock which has been a great ride.
Test drove a RAV4 10 years ago, didn’t like how it rode. Went with a Nissan Rogue instead. The Rogue has close to 150 k on it’s and never needed anything other than maintenance. Maybe the RAV4 is better now?
Just got today a seriously great deal on a fully loaded 2022 Tucson.
The thing is like something out of star wars.
Got the full brand new car warranty on top of it.
Pretty happy at the moment..
Honda makes a great engine.
But i have noticed over the years a rust problem.
Maybe not anymore i dunno..
You have to be careful a bit.
A lot of Toyota’s are made in Kentucky.
My new Hyundai was made in Alabama.
BUICK is made in CHINA or S. Korea.
MAZDA is made in JAPAN.....probably a good pick for quality and reliability..
I Loved my fully loaded 2010 Mazda 6....unfortunately back then it was built in a UAW Ford Mustang plant and thing broke....like the fob system and the Bose amplifier.
Otherwise a great car until the giant dumptruck side swiped it.
Ugh
Most new Mazda’s now come from Japan and look reallly nice, great colors and styling.
If not for the 5K in savings on my new/used 2022 mint 28K miles top of the line/ fully loaded Tucson (black) :) with a super warranty i just picked up 9 hours ago i def would have gone Mazda..
Should be a anti ugly rule when designing autos.
I buy only new cars since 1964 Corvair. It was wonderful in Chicago’s snow and ice with amazing traction without snow tires. However the air-cooled rear mount engine was breaking v-belts regularly. Traded in for an Chevy Impala which was very nice car, but I moved 35 miles away from work so traded in for a Chevy Nova. After driving that car for 160,000 miles, it was starting to rust but without any mechanical breakdowns. Chicago winters are brutal on rusting cars from all the salt they spread in winter. All next cars were mostly GM, with one Ford product and one Dodge conversion van. That van was great to drive all over the country with wife, 2 kids and a dog. The most fun to drive car was Pontiac G5. Most rect new car is Chevy Trax SUV type, not a rubber burner but seats high which is good for visibility.
If I total up all the money I have spent on repairs (excluding routine maintenance), it is less than $1000 from 1954 through 2025. All American name plate cars.
