IMHO, the performer was quite reverent and delivered a soulful and emotionally invested rendition of the song.
My singing voice sucks. Should me and other people with sucky voices be barred from singing the National Anthem, just because most people would not like our individual renditions/interpretations of it?
Is there a list of appropriate instruments with which the Anthem may be played and a list of instruments you would like to see barred from use in performing the anthem?

Thank you for posting, great set of pipes. Sad they’re no longer around.
“ No one can ever out-do Whitney Houston’s national anthem................”
That my FRiend is an absolute fact!
It was well done and respectful.
I loved it too. It wasn’t overly lengthy. Not a lot of vamping. Just a jazzy, solid pace. And very well sung.
What time is the game on?
Marvin was great. Smokey Robinson did a great version at an MLB all-star game, sometime around 1986
I do still think Whitney was the best ever.
Very little about that Super Bowl that decent, rational people found enjoyable or entertaining.
The NFL does not pay you to perform at halftime.
You get what you pay for.
“ No one can ever out-do Whitney Houston’s national anthem................”
Why don’t they just put that up on the jumbo train and forget about it?
And no kneeling
That Travis Kelce was kneeling right there with KC Chief, Kolin Kaepernick, per Jack Posibeic. Kelce and his boyfriend Taylor and their cultural bossiness and ideology got so booed yesterday
Batiste is a good keyboard player. I didn’t hear his anthem. I saw it. It looked way dramatized so I kept it muted, as I did most of the show
I did like the Glen Powell commercial. And the part where KC and their kneelers got hammered.
I expect the National Anthem to be done cleanly and a cappella.
This extra stuff is less respectful.
How about Rosanne Barr? 🤣
IMHO, the commercials were way below par of previous years...............
I didn't either, but I didn't watch the whole game. I did see plenty of stupid ads. Perhaps the stupidest ad featured a girl football player who was nimble and talented in contrast to the bigoted, boorish, oafish and bumbling white guys she was playing against. But then there was the "it's time to go to the bathroom" ad--I forget who ran it, but it was tasteless.
Didn’t watch the game after I saw what wasn’t the American National Anthem.
This is not the thoughtful argument you think it is but rather a lack of understanding of the terms used.
Intentional bastardization of the national anthem is never acceptable. Not from Whitney, not from Meat.
A “sucky” voice doing their genuine best to sing it as written will always be better.
