The Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 on Sunday, Feb. 9. While the Chiefs look become the first team in NFL history win a Super Bowl three-peat, the Eagles look to reclaim the Lombardi Trophy for the first time since 2018.
Before kickoff at the Superdome in New Orleans, Fox delivered all-star pregame ceremony that included Lady Gaga singing live from Bourbon Street and Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle delivering a special rendition of “America the Beautiful" inside the Superdome.
To perform the national anthem, the network tapped 7-time Grammy Award winner, Jon Batiste, a native of Metairie, Louisiana. Batiste's rendition of the "Star-Spangled Banner" immediately turned heads.
Fans loved it. One person posted, "Jon Batiste….. gave us the Louisiana rendition of the national anthem that we all needed. I love it." Another viewer gushed, "Jon Batiste is so damn talented."
One user on X wrote, "absolutely fantastic performance of the national anthem, Jon Batiste killed it." Another person posted, "As an on the record hater of the US national anthem you gotta hand it to Jon Batiste on that one. A+ anthem." One viewer added, "Jon Batiste just performed one of the most coolest, funkiest and laid-back National Anthem ever."
One man noted, "BEAUTIFUL!!! New Orleans singer Jon Batiste just NAILED the National Anthem. The entire stadium loved it. AMERICA IS BACK."

The National Athem was never meant to be jazzed up!
Majestic and clear (and "traditional").
That halftime so-called “show” was less than a zero....
It was the Superbowl, not a national holiday. We were not honoring heroes we were watching a football game. It was OK and reflectedd New Orleans. Now the half-time show—that was all so woke and not in keeping with the mood. But then, No one really watches that.
My two favorites: the combined military chorus st the Jacksonville superbowl and the pentatonics a few years back.
It’s the National Anthem...not the New Orleans Anthem. It was crap...
< "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious"
So all you druggies...see....doing drugs can be rewarding.
This all started with Jose Feliciano at Game Five of the 1968 World Series.
Very good!
The anthem scored a solid 5, middle of the road. I didn’t like it but I dont think it was disrespectful either. In other words, it’ll do.
The halftime show is a solid 0 in my book. Stunk to high heaven. Why does the NFL continue to get acts that are hip hop, or pop? Honestly, Country is the largest radio format in the nation and I’d also say that the majority of money spent on the NFL, tickets, jerseys comes from country fans.
I didn’t see any Elon ad or secret service ad ?
Did I miss it or was it falsely promoted ?
Perhaps nobody wants to do the NFL halftime. I wonder how many people they asked before they finally got this guy to do it?
I liked it for the same reason. Also, as far as I can tell, he is a really nice guy.
They should just replay it every year.
I agree with you.
The anthem should be sung in revered way.
I have heard lot of “modifications”, but the traditional, revered way is the only way!
