WASHINGTON D.C.––Though drawing sharp distinctions between themselves during the closing days of the keenly contested 2024 U.S. Presidential election, candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have said little––because pollsters and pundits have not asked––about perhaps the starkest difference of all in their respective political histories.
Yet it can be succinctly summarized, and matters a great deal to the third or more of American households who donate or volunteer in some manner to help animals:

Many years ago I belonged to a Methodist church. The pastor was a very Godly man. Good preacher, really cared about his flock. Everything was all about the Bible and why it should matter to everyone everyday. But he grew old and retired.
He was replaced by a woman. She never said she was a lesbian, but she didn’t really have to. Barely mentioned the Bible. Never really spoke about Jesus. She was all about the animals. And the souls of animals. And the spirit of Nature.
I didn’t last long. Animals are nice — but that’s not what the job is all about. Likewise, if Kamala is all about the animals, then she is just missing the point.
