The mountain was named after McKinley in 1896. The McKinley name stuck until President Barack Obama’s administration changed it to Denali as a symbolic gesture to Alaska Natives on the eve of his Alaska visit to highlight climate change.

“Alaskans Say Trump Can Change the Name of Denali But Can’t Make People Call it Mount McKinley”
So back to the pre-Obama status quo ante.
It took me like 20 years to stop calling Reid Park Randolph Park. And this wasn’t out of any kind of cussedness, I had no desire to not change the name. I’d just learned Randolph park and it was in my head. Probably not aided by the fact that they still called a lot of the facilities Randolph Park whatever. But yeah, people don’t tend to handle landmarks having their names changed well.
I agree that NM is RINO, but this story is from the AP.
Well, I guess that’s true, but it goes both ways.
Hey Alaskans, suppose we alter the headline a bit? ‘Americans Say Trump can change the name of Denali, and Americans will call it Mount McKinley’.
The McKinley name stuck from 1896 until 2015, when President Barack Obama’s administration changed it to Denali as a symbolic gesture to Alaska Natives on the eve of his Alaska visit to highlight climate change (AKA Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter). And at the constant urging by your Senator, who was selected by Ranked Choice Voting. Another big middle finger to the Republicans who thought rather highly of McKinley.

“Barack Obama’s administration changed it to Denali as a symbolic gesture to Alaska Natives on the eve of his Alaska visit to highlight climate change.”
Climate change???? OMG! To those who don’t like the change BACK to what it was for decades I say, “The Gulf of America”, Canada, the 51st state, Greenland the new Puerto Rico, The United States of America’s Panama Canal, the 52nd state of Northern California, Idaho welcoming counties from Oregon and Washington into their state.
“Come gather ‘round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin’
And you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’
Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who
That it’s namin’
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
The battle outside ragin’
Will soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one
If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin’
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’”

And Bejing, Peking
How about Mount Palin ?
Palin prefers Denali.
New York, New Amsterdam.
Saigón.
And when would that be?
Personally I am pleased to see a president in the White House who can actually think, answer questions, and provide leadership.
