Supreme Court to decide if families can opt out of reading LGBTQ books in the classroom

The Supreme Court will decide if Maryland parents, who object to LGBTQ books in the classroom, have a constitutional right to opt their children out of classes that conflict with their family’s faith.

Parents in Montgomery County, Maryland are claiming their children’s schools are violating their religious freedom by not allowing them to opt out of lessons that use books featuring LGBTQ story lines. On Friday, the Supreme Court made the decision they will weigh in on the matter.

According to court papers, the district provided the books to teachers and expected them to be incorporated into the classroom by displaying them on shelves, using them for read-aloud, and recommending them to students. When the policy was first introduced, parents were given the option to opt out their children, according to a previous Fox News article, but the legal filing suggests this option was taken away when so many students were being opted out, that it caused high absenteeism.

"As alleged in the amended complaint, on March 22, 2023, the Board publicly reiterated that when a teacher chose to use one of the Storybooks in their classrooms, ‘a notification goes out to parents about the book,' and, if a caregiver chooses to opt their child out, the teacher would ‘find a substitute text for that student that supports’ the same language arts standards and objectives," the documents states.

"The following day, without explanation, the Board announced in a complete about-face that a notice and opt-out option would no longer be permitted," it continues. "Although the revised policy became effective immediately, old requests for accommodations were grandfathered in through the end of the 2022–2023 academic year, making the current 2023–2024 academic year the first year for which no students or their parents are provided notice or the opportunity to opt out...

What if the schools were just as aggressive about pushing other perversions on children. Imagine a teacher saying "Gather around, kids. I'm going to read you a very special story that you have to promise me that you won't tell your parents about."

Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita.

Yet the government is supposed to be ‘by the people for the people’. Government schools have reached a point of hubris where they really think the classrooms are THEIR classrooms and the kids are THEIR kids.

It’s one thing for ‘educators’ to decide on which math book to use, it’s entirely another to decide what morality should be taught. Evil has infiltrated everything. It needs to be given back to the parents.

Let’s take a couple of steps forward. They win and are allowed to exclude their kids from having to hear “Jimmy has 2 moms who scissor in the living room” or whatever crap they teach them. What do they DO with those kids? Do they politely take them to a different class and let them color? Or do they plan something akin to detention to make their lives miserable so that the kids will complain to their parents, and they can get them back in the class? Or give the kids snacks in tranny story hour class, while the excluded kids get none?

You can win AND lose at the same time.

FWIW, and it should go without saying, but I’m all for the parents on this issue, but I know how spiteful the left can be when they lose.

Exactly.

The only way this will stop is for parents to engage in massive civil disobedience by refusing to allow their children to be exposed/indoctrinated into perversion.
