Plans for Trump’s border mission include combat vehicles, infantry

U.S. officials are preparing to send thousands of additional troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, including, potentially, soldiers equipped with 20-ton Stryker combat vehicles, according to four U.S. officials familiar with the planning.

The Pentagon is rushing to cobble together options for an operation that President Donald Trump has declared a national emergency. These additional service members and capabilities, if all approved, would vastly expand the military’s footprint from Texas to California, where roughly 2,500 troops are positioned to assist U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the detection and apprehension of migrants seeking to enter the United States illegally.

One military official, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive and evolving situation, said that some units have received notifications warning that they may be needed to deploy depending on the Trump administration’s desires. These efforts would supplement the Pentagon’s decision this week to send 1,500 service members to the border to augment the existing force that dates to the Biden administration.

Trump has portrayed the flow of people and illegal drugs across America’s southern frontier as an invasion that must be met with military might. He has long shown an appetite to employ U.S. troops domestically for demonstrations of force, whether to deter migration or to crack down on civil protests.

The effort underway now could include well over 10,000 soldiers and Marines, defense officials said.

The Army is considering deploying the headquarters of the 10th Mountain Division, which is commanded by a two-star general, officials said. The infantry unit is based at Fort Drum in northern New York — not far from the Canadian border — and is available if needed, officials said.

Discussions also have included sending a brigade of infantry soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division in...

Plus he has a better VP now. If he’d won in 2020, he’d have still had Pence.

You can’t tell the difference between freeloading, illegal aliens and hiker shooting, drug cartel maggots down on the border with all that concertina wire. Our guys need to be heavily armed with anything they can get their hands on. Some grenades would be nice.

I can’t see Trump ever putting American military in harms way without the right tools. A DEI General, yes, but not Trump.

On January 24, 2025, the United States has deployed Marine Corps units, including the 1st and 7th Combat Engineer Battalions from Camp Pendleton, to the US-Mexico border to assist Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The Marines are there to support border security operations, reflecting a significant military involvement in response to national security concerns.

Bill Melugin posted video with a few Osprey Helos dropping off supplies/troops. On their way in, they flew down the length of the wall for quite a ways. Visual deterrent for those on the other side of the wall I’m sure. Holy sheet. The word will spread and the crowds will head South again.

Our guys need to remember that cartel killers and Mexicans look almost identical. They need to stay on their toes.

We should have a massive show of force for about a week with A10s and Cobra gun ships flying along our borders. The media will pick up on this and broadcast all the video on tv, You Tube, news articles, podcasts… Show deterrent.

I’ve been thinking the same thing for some time now. America got a chance to see what the Dems are really about during the 4 Biden years. And now a back of the mind dream here (though not likely): investigations prove so conclusively that 2020 was stolen, that there is popular support for rescinding EVERYTHING that Biden did during his illegitimate Presidency, including appointments to the courts (USSC too!), any laws passed, any agreements entered into etc. A guy can dream, right?

A bullet needs propellant to increase velocity as it exits a gun barrel. That is why they are seated at the front of an ammunition cartridge.

Oh, we’re being unnecessarily literal about it.

I love watching B-52 Stratos when they take off and do their touch-and-goes, and I love watching C5A-Galaxies, C17s, B1Bs, and the various Stealth bombers takeoff and do flybys. Not to leave out F14 SuperToms, FA18 Hornets, F35s, and looking forward to whatever else Skunkworks comes out with.
I’ve even seen some kind of aircraft doing a map of the earth just above the clouds with a most decidedly stealthy profile to it.

But do I LOVE seeing A-10 Warthogs playing about in the sky and swooping down to lay out some charges during an air show! MAN it must be some kind of awesome to be a Warty pilot! Those things are the most maneuverable armored birds in the sky and have to be way too much fun to fly. Daggum I love those winged tanks!

Omg 😱 the vp pick was his best decision so far

I wanted desantis and we got jd Vance

What sealed the deal was the vice presidential debate where jd Vance shut up all his naysayers!!

I truly believe that the vice presidential debate turned things around for trump.

Vance is the boss !!! Great pick

Someone’s gonna test these guys. The guess is gonna be that their guns, if they even have any, won’t be loaded or even if loaded won’t be fired.
