SACRAMENTO, CA — With Governor Gavin Newsom facing withering criticism over his preparations for wildfires, the Delta Smelt Fish Association hosted a press conference to reiterate their support for the Governor.
The fish expressed total support for the Governor's decision to allow millions of gallons of rainwater to give them more room to swim, as opposed to collecting it to put out fires.
"We fully support Governor Newsom's water management," said the Delta Smelt spokes-fish. "Things really looked dire for us delta smelt fish, but thanks to Governor Newsom, all the water that could have been put into fire hydrants was instead given to us. He made the tough decision to look Los Angeles residents in the eye and say, 'I choose the fish.' Thank you, Mr. Governor. You have had our back, and it's time for us to have yours."
According to the association, the Delta Smelt fish have had a wonderful past week, with no natural disasters whatsoever. "The fish in California are thriving, and we have Gavin Newsom to thank for it," said a local fish. "Without him, we could be all dried up and scorched like those people in L.A. We owe Newsom big time."
At publishing time, the fish had graciously offered to donate a few gallons of their water to the needy humans in Los Angeles.
They look like they’d make fantastic bait on the end of my hook.
I can see the new and improved Gadsden Flag with the Delta Smelta: DON’T TREAD ON ME.
Yes they would. They're just the right size.
They're also really good eating, each fish is just about one mouthful (after removing head and tail if you prefer, although those are edible). Crispy fried, very tasty.
This could easily be from the Sacramento Bee.
Delta Smelt Fish Association stands to lose a lot of free money who wouldn’t whine.
While singing “burning down the house”
Normal people would lie low when they realized their insanity has caused the loss of life and billions of dollars of real estate. They should just STFU and try to be as invisible as possible for maybe a year or so.
