what movie could have a great prequel? What movies could have a great sequel?

Posted on 12/31/2024 6:34:08 PM PST by MNDude

more often than not, an unwanted sequel comes out, and it is rarely as good as the original. Although, in a few are better than the original (Wrath of Khan, Terminator 2). Can't think of a prequel better than the original currently.

In any case, which movies would you like to see with a prequel or a sequel?

https://screenrant.com/duel-why-truck-driver-identity-never-seen/

In “Duel: A Conversation with Director Steven Spielberg” (available on YouTube), the director hinted that the antagonistic truck driver in Duel was a serial killer. Spielberg said, “The intention was that he was basically a marauder in every state,” and pointed to the various license plates on the front of the truck as evidence of his murderous past. In this sense, the truck driver is a classic slasher movie villain. This ominous visual detail hinted that the trucker had been driving across America, targeting unsuspecting commuters like Mann, and these license plates were taken from vehicles he ran off the road in other states

“Winter’s Bone” (2010 Jennifer Lawrence’s breakout movie) is, if I understand it correctly, is the middle portion of the novel by Daniel Woodrel. Good movie. Described as “country noir.”

That seems tailor-made for a prequel and a sequel!

A sequel to ‘Hell or High Water’ would be good.

John Wick.

Yes!

The first one was going to be cancelled by backers within 24 hours and left unproduced. Eva Longoria pledged $6 million of her own money and the project was saved.

To make you happy----

John Wick 5. Production is set to begin in 2025, with a potential release date in late 2026. Chad Stahelski will direct the film, which will explore John Wick's origins and relationships in the criminal underworld.

Then unhappy. Collider says:

"Collider has learned that John Wick 5 will not be filming next year, despite reports to the contrary that the film would begin production at some point in 2025. Sources have confirmed to us that, while plans for a fifth film may yet come to fruition, it will not be happening at the moment"

Can't think of a prequel better than the original currently.

Not a movie, but "Better Call Saul" has a lighter touch than "Breaking Bad".

“John Wick died at the end of 4”

One of the writings about the X-Files had interviews and one actor said the crew acted funny around him one day on the set and he was told “You’re dying in this episode. We just got the new script change sheets.”

As a veteran of earlier episodes he asked: “Do you mean dead or X-Files dead?”

Not only can John Wick be back (or the dreaded prequel origins type storylines) but Charon could have been a faked death to save him from enemies.

To paraphrase Goldfinger-—
Wick: “Do you expect me to die?”
Franchise: “No, Mr.Wick. We expect you to live in the sequels.”
