The Silicon Valley immigration priority was not the topic I thought would explode and fracture the tenuous MAGA alignment with the New Big Tech group represented by Elon Musk and his billionaire network. However, we learn more every day. This is a jaw-dropping moment to watch unfold as a very influential sector of the political discourse begins a full-frontal attack against those who are pointing out how the tech community abuse H1B visas to replace American workers. In the background, of course, is the context of widespread immigration policy fraud being one of the priorities for the average Trump supporter.
The Silicon Valley team do not seem to review discussion of the H1B manipulation/fraud within the larger American economy as a problem, as long as the discussion of the visa fraud does not impact their business models. However, as soon as the H1B abuse started to be framed around Silicon Valley’s participation therein, the New Big Tech group take a nuclear war approach to defending their interests.
(Musk tweet)
Having followed the immigration issue for a long time, yet specifically only having a big picture review of the H1B visa issues, it has been astounding to watch how Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, David Sacks and the Silicon Valley supporters and influencers are responding to having the H1B visa fraud confronted. The self-interest in their defense is just astronomical to watch unfold.
Empowered by what can only be reasonably defined as their perceived influence over President Trump, the new-era Tech team are quite forcefully telling the MAGA base of Trump-supporting American workers that their concerns, views and perspectives are irrelevant.

I have a reform of the H1B visa I would propose.
1. Take it 100% out of the hands of the employers, do not issue H1B visa applications to employers for employers to provide for their selected foreigners.
2. Issue X number of H1B Visa applications possible for the year, directly to the foreign individuals who want to apply for them, with the number adjusted each year as the needs of the country change.
3. Applicants apply in their home country, with some countries, for national security reasons, excluded. They do not apply because some company wants them to. They apply on their own. Once the X number of applications have been accepted there are no more till the following year.
4. The visa gives the recipient one year to come to the U.S. and find a job in the job categpry for which they obtained the H1B Visa. They must be accepted for such a job within that year or the visa expires. If accepted in such a job within the year the visa is extended for the legally defined H1B visa period.
5. The H!B visa holder is not beholden to any employer. As long as they remain employed and employed in the job category for which the H!B visa was granted, for the H!B visa period, the visa remains valid. In other words, they can change their employer because they want to change their employer, no matter what a current employer, on their H1B visa, thinks.
By this reform, companies cannot rig the labor market for below market wages for H1B visa holders. The H1B visa holders simply add folks to the domestic job market, not a particular employer’s group of employees. They can get the prevailing wage, do not have to accept a job for less.
The H1B visa will quit depressing U.S. wages for U.S. citizens and legal residents alike. Employers will not have a wage-advantage by hiring an H1B visa holder, because the H1B visa holder is not beholden to the employer, they are on their own, and they can learn, as anyone can, what their real worth is on the U.S. open job market.
they mean to give all these illegal aliens work visas as a path to citizenship
it looks like an emergency end run around deportation and dis/re/placement.
using our own momentum to get their way , how jiujitsu of them.
No, it is justified. At the university where I worked about 30% of incoming freshman had to go thru some kind of remedial education before they could start college-level classes. That was back in 2008 & I’m sure things have not improved in the interim.
Teachers unions need to go. Most of the teachers probably need to go. Back to phonics & repetition, no sex ed, no anti-American crap & maybe some Bible thrown in. There’s a lot to fix in our education system.
This is not SiliconValley issue. All Pacific coast companies are just as corrupt. Check out phone and oil companies — I worked with them years ago and they were frantic to get rid of US citizens on their payrolls.
IMO, the entire program needs to be shuttered. I’m also sick and tired of student visas. Back in the fall of 1978, the Iranians were brought here to colleges. They made it very clear they didn’t want to be here. They rarely attended class, much less did their homework or bothered to take a test but suddenly the profs were grading on a bell curve and guess who got the As and who ended up on the bottom.
That’s the same game played with H1B applications and HR interviews. They automatically get brownie points so fake points get attached to the previous fake points so they get hired on a totally fake resume and the company gets their own point$.
Much simpler idea: Shut down H1B. It is not needed.
Elon is finding out that he can bully his business partners as he has but he is unable to bully Americans!
Some jobs given to H-1B Visa holders:
711 cashier
Track coach
Accountant
Cook
Dog trainer
Baker
Massage therapist
Janitor
Director of Pickleball
It’s all public.

H1Bs shift down thd entire wage scale.
Make it hard for entry level Americans to gain experience.
Fill the management bench with foreigners.
Make schedules annd deliverables slip.
Force white people to lie to cover up dor thd incompetence and poor communication skills of foreigners.
Drive up prices for housing via artificially goosing the population.
Dilute historical American cukture.
Reduce the population growth of whites by reducing the number of famiies and children.
Enable nepotism.
Allow executives to practice wafe arbitrage while simultaneousky pocketing most of the profits, reducing quality for the American customer, and socializing the diffuse, non-line item lifestyle costs to the country at large.
Separates executives from their employees and fosters a dehumanizing attitude on the part of managers and executives.
I’m woefully ignorant on this topic...I assumed that the biggest sector was tech and hospitality. I know of several resorts that use the H1B system. That doesn’t seem right as hospitality jobs are very trainable and mainly entry level. Most tech jobs are not and require a certain skill level. That being said the first comment on the article seems sound...PAUSE all immigration until someone can clearly understand and articulate what is going on. Then step by step prioritize and implement.
“Turns out one of mine had notes from interviewers who went so far as to say, “More than qualified, but white.”
How would you read that?”
I’d read it as a lawsuit with a large payout.

I have a solution that is less complex and easy to implement and will fix the H1B system immediately.
Charge the company that wants a H1B $50,000 annualy for each H1B desired.
Once the corporations can no longer use the H1B system to get cheap labor the fraud will disappear and the H1B system will be used for what it was meant for: resources that are in short supply in America.
Big accounts that disagreed with him openly got their blue verification badges removed, some accounts deleted. Appears most were restored this morning after Elon's temper tantrum, but still...
How does a person literally F**k his own face? Seems hard.
“Once the corporations can no longer use the H1B system to get cheap labor the fraud will disappear and the H1B system will be used for what it was meant for: resources that are in short supply in America.”
My suggested reform would take the entire H1B visa system out of the hands of the employers and end their use of it for cheap labor.
That outburst by him yesterday really rattled a lot of people (self included) and honestly, I'm questioning why I even go to X anymore.
I went for SpaceX and StarLink news, followed few people on there (Bongino for one..) and was thrilled he endorsed President Trump.
Now he turns? No thanks.
Yawn. Lotsa people contributing to the panic frenzy. Peoples’ opinions don’t make it so.
