Late-night hosts relentlessly made Donald Trump the focus of nearly all of their jokes before the presidential election, but failed to sway the voting, as revealed by a new study.
A shocking 98 percent of the jokes made by Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers and Saturday Night Live in the lead up to Election Day made Trump the butt of the joke, according to media watchdog group Media Research Center.
As many as 1,428 of the 1,463 political jokes on these shows - from September 3 through October 25 - were targeted at Trump, the study found.
'That's a whopping 40:1 ratio or almost 98 percent to 2 percent,' said MRC analyst Alex Christy, as reported by Fox News.
Even when the late-night hosts mocked then-nominee Joe Biden, they often softened the jokes with comments about Trump.
In June, Seth Meyers touched on Biden's age and cognitive decline but then made sure to note Trump's criminal convictions.
'As we made clear on this show repeatedly, there’s no equivalency between a competent 81-year-old who occasionally shows signs of age and a demented 77-year-old criminal who says dead people rigged the election and thinks electric boat batteries will lead to shark attacks,' Meyer clarified.
In September, Kimmel even brought out his wife to the show to roast Trump and tell him to 'shut up and go away.'
'Go to Mar-a-Lago, spend all day, every day, cheating at golf and masturbating to Newsmax, and let a competent woman take over. That's my advice. That's my advice. Thanks for listening,' she said.
In late October, Kimmel went on a 20-minute rant against Trump, using clips from the former president's speeches, interviews and rallies to try and illustrate several aspects he believes make Trump unfit to lead.

Even the old guys who I liked didn't have any influence. Not of that kind.
For example, I liked watching Johnny Carson, but would anyone have changed their votes if he told them?
But I expect Carson understood that. And it didn't deter him from sometimes getting political.

All entertainers, singers and celebrities were anti-Trump
All traditional media were anti-Trump
Everybody who was anybody hated Trump.

The hosts rants didn't fall on deaf ears - the dwindling number of remaining viewers listened intently. The ears of the non-woke left a long time ago.

This is the reason why Gutfeld has been so successful.
First of all he has Tyrus and other guests that are actually funny or at least pleasant to look at.
Probably one of Gutfeld’s highest rated shows was when he had President Trump on prior to the election.
The other real problem for all of the MSM is that they are losing audience to podcasters on YouTube, Rumble and Spotify . The only reason to watch any of the MSM entities is to watch sports. Although, I frequently watch the 15 minute recap of NFL games on YouTube the next morning. The age of cable TV is ending. Every young person watches TV through a Streaming service. Just a couple days ago Netflix had NFL games on. Not CBS, Fox, ABC or NBC. Thursday night games are on Amazon Prime.
All of the Streaming services cut into the profit of Network TV. This is also why MSNBC and CNN continue to lose audience. We all joke and say Elon should buy one of them.
WHY WOULD HE?
Cable TV is in its death throws.
It is like suggesting he should buy a newspaper or a buggy whip maker.
None of them have been the least bit funny since Carson and sometimes Leno.
Never watched any of them after Carson retired............

Not Gutfeld. His show was not only unfailingly pro Trump, it also beat all the others in the ratings.
So rather than hurting Trump's chances of becoming president, they actually helped him.
Heck, I don't even like Trump, and was resolved to not vote for either candidate for President. But the left just became so unbearable and unreasonable in their bashing of Trump and his supporters that I had ended up voting for Trump for a third time.
