Is Anyone Else Spending Christmas Eve Alone? 2024 Edition (vanity)
Source? I am the source. | Christmas Eve 2024 | Skooz

Posted on 12/24/2024 2:44:59 PM PST by Skooz

Just wondering if any of my fellow FR friends are, like me, enjoying a solo Christmas Eve. I have all the presents wrapped, Christmas music in the background and will spend the evening with my faithful greyhound, Ralphie Parker and then George Bailey -- the same routine every year.

Any of you folks solo this evening?

I’m sure Spock didn’t believe in Santa - though I liked the episode where he got squirted by some plant and fell in love...

At the end of that episode Spock says : 'For the only time In my life, I was happy'.

Sorry you are having to deal with that. I had to bury my dad on Christmas eve 1994. Every Dec 24 is difficult. He was only 60.

My favorite Christmas Eve of my 61 years was in 1988 in a rehab center in Minneapolis.
I had gotten into some trouble and found myself in court ordered rehab, but this was a Christian organization, so on Christmas eve they had a team come in to minister.

The team consisted of around 8 elderly gentlemen who appeared to all be at least in their 80s with their oldest member being 103 who walked in unassisted.

These gentlemen had been ministering together for decades and I got the distinct feeling that they were not the frail old men that they appeared to be, but in the spiritual realm they were special ops Rambo badasses going into enemy territory to annihilate the enemy and rescue hostages.

The speaker preached from Acts 12:6 where Peter was freed from prison, asking us how many of us had been struck on the side and woken up to be miraculously freed from our own prison of sin.

The Holy Spirit was there and it was beautiful.

Merry Christmas one and all.

I wish...I am surrounded by 75 Italian-American relatives in my large Italian family for Christmas Eve. And most of us will be back together at another house tomorrow to do it again. I love being solo, bit kinda admit I love these large gatherings with like-minded relatives too and it’s a lot of fun and games. Merry Christmas!

I’m in the hospital in Huntsville Alabama recovering and rehabilitating from surgery last Monday to repair a fractured tibial plateau and split tibia that I encurred doing some yard work.

Oxy-codone is wonderful. Cheers!

The tree lights flicker, soft and bright,
In the front window, through the night.
The living room is cold and still,
A quiet hush, the air grown chill.

I sit alone, no gifts to find,
No holly wreath to mark the time.
The radio hums a distant song,
A Christmas hymn, forgotten long.

The cat curls near, my only friend,
As winter’s chill begins to send
Its icy touch across the floor,
Whispering secrets of the cold once more.
