Just wondering if any of my fellow FR friends are, like me, enjoying a solo Christmas Eve. I have all the presents wrapped, Christmas music in the background and will spend the evening with my faithful greyhound, Ralphie Parker and then George Bailey -- the same routine every year.
Any of you folks solo this evening?
Yep, pretty much. But I had my Christmas back on Dec 7th when attended a Christmas party at my former workplace. So I’m good.
Me
Merry Christmas!
May the Good Lord bring you peace and comfort knowing He is by your side always.
I’m blessed to have my wife with me, who has been my faithful partner for 55 years to celebrate Christmas with, but the kids are doing Christmas with their own families some distance from where we live. I take comfort dwelling on the memories of those wonderful years when the kids were growing up and we celebrated Christmases together as a family. As the song goes ‘Those where the days my friend, I thought they’d never end,’ but life goes on and each milestone reached brings with it changes in life’s routine, including Christmas. I want to wish all my Freeper friends a blessed Christmas, never losing sight of the wonders of this season when the Christ child arrived this night to save God’s people from the sins of this world.
My kids are on 3 different continents (Hawaii; California, Spain). My father in law passed away on 02NOV; My mother in law passed away on 04DEC. After 62 years of marriage 32 days was enough time apart and now with Jesus this Christmas.
Had them over for Labor day cookout. Didn't think that was the last meal we be sharing.
The Lord works things on his schedule, that's for sure. Thanking God for all the years we had Christmas together and sadly took it for granted. Sure makes you think.
Merry Christmas to all and also Free Republic, thank you Jim!
Ha ha! Hopefully, an hour from now, she’ll be laughing and having fun with them! 😜
Yes, my 6th Christmas Eve alone in the house after my wife’s passing. However, I just returned home from a candlelight Christmas Eve service at church, and will dine with my daughter and her family tomorrow. And if things get too bad I can always get back on FR and browse around. Merry Christmas to all!!
Four cats and classical music. My folks live right down the road, though, and sister around the corner, so I’m not truly alone. Merry Christmas to you, fellow Freeper!
Just me and my Great Pyrenees and we are watching the movie “A Dogs Way Home”.
Beautiful voice. Beautiful song.
Same. Merry Christmas FRiends!
I’m retiring. Finished my last day shift last Thursday. Signed the papers yesterday and turned in my ID badge. I’m spending Christmas Eve alone, and I like it. Serene in a way.
And I’m not alone. I have millions of people on the internet, most of whom are wrong, keeping me company. :)
Merry Christmas, all!
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round them; and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.
And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
I was nine. I persisted a bit, refused to let go of the fantasy. And then I saw A Christmas Story on its opening day and realized then how Santa REALLY worked, LOL
God Bless you and your beloved late husband LL.
This Guy is wishing you a merry and blessed Christmas.
FWIW!
Yep, home alone (add that one to the xmas eve movie list!)
Will ride to hometown tomorrow with my sister to see the folks.
I have a cold, there’s 8 inches of fresh snow out there. Was going to go to the pub, but rest is the smartest move. Merry Christmas to you all.
><
Sorry you didn’t make the pub, but there is always another time. Merry Christmas!
Yep...I’m solo too this year. Just finished church service....wonderful invitation given to accept Christ and many came to the alter. Touching moment .....
I’ll be fine celebrating solo....won’t be my first, and I’ve leared well how to enjoy my own company.
Merry Christmas to all those going solo tonight!
Oh, Amen!
After 62 years of marriage 32 days was enough time apart and now with Jesus this Christmas.
I sure get that. Frankly, God blessed them by letting them both go together after so many years, even if it was 32 days apart. It is quite so common and easy to understand. One can die of a broken heart!
Sounds like a delightful evening. Nice to have family close by.
