Agree, sounds like he is looking at legacy-and he was doing so good on focusing-geez just be the first to cut gov spending by 20% and you will be on Mt Rushmore but this buy Greenland talk undercuts everything and is crazy talk that makes other agenda items less likely-Dems would LOVE him to continue to pursue this
Make it part of Alaska.
Arctic ice , at least the permafrost part of it, is going away which means ships (including naval ships) will be sailing for the first time through parts they have never sailed through before.
Greenland is a sovereign part of Denmark. Denmark cannot “sell” Greenland any more than the USA could sell Alaska today.
Russia already claims the Arctic Ocean in its entirety along with all its natural resources.
Tried it in 2019. Greenland said No...it is not for sale.....but US Trade is welcomed. IMOW
Denmark can no more sell it than the USA could sell Alaska.
Greenlanders are Danish citizens.
“East of the Rockies.......caller you’re on the air...” 😁
Canada would come in as multiple states: Ottawa, Quebec, Newfoundland, Alberta etc.
Thinking of legacy?
Renaming Denali to again honor a president who was big on tariffs, annexed Guam, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico—and drew an assassin.
It was until 2020 when a bunch of Karen’s and newby’s destroyed it.
I prefer my earths medium rare
I’m waiting for a tweet from Elon: “How much does it cost?”. Like he did before buying Twitter.
“ Offer the citizens $1,000,000 each. At a population of $56,000 that’s $56 BILLION.”
Chump change for Elon! He could name it Elondia and apply for statehood.
Maybe, but they are autonomous enough (since 2009) that if they choose they can become completely independent. As in independent of Denmark. If they can become completely independent of Denmark then they can also be persuaded to join the United States or enter some kind of alliance. It’s entirely up to the people of Greenland.
Trump is always negotiating. Do you know his reasons for what he said.
Just guessing about Trump's reasons but here are 2 possibilities:
They won’t take our butter bc of all the antibiotics and other stuff pumped into our
cows. Their food over there is more pure blood than ours.
Sheesh, the degradation started long before 2020. The mods do their job, mostly. I’ve seen objectionable posts get removed near-instantaneously, then I’ve seen some sit and simmer. As it was said, it is the internet, ruminating on offensive things will make you mad and they will continue to happen.
“And how does the US pay for it?”
We’ll write a check. /s
