Greenland becomes a territory. Aleuts get to vote in the Conventions.

Can’t wait until 1/2... maybe then he’ll cool it with goofy ideas.

Why do we need a big chunk of ice?

Because it has an incalculable amount of mineral wealth, wealth which Denmark is not exploiting. Not to mention, a base in the Arctic to counter Russia.

kept posting nasty threatening sexual stuff on the general board here to me despite my repeated requests he stop posting to me. Mods did nothing, not even a reply, let alone a warning to him.

Same thing happens with the Pro-Russia crowd - they untouchable, perhaps because they are big donors.

BobL: "But make up a false flag in Ilulissat (Greenland) and then take it by force, as we did in Kosovo."

Pristina monument to female victims
of sexual violence in Kosovo:

No "false flag" was used in Kosovo, only the truth about Serbian atrocities against non-Serbs there 1998-1999.
These included over 10,000 killed, 20,000 women raped and 1,000,000 displaced from their homes.

UN forces in Kosovo (of which about 25% were US forces) did not "take" it, they freed it.
Today, Kosovo's independence is recognized by about 60% of the world's countries, including nearly all of the EU and NATO.
Countries that do not recognize Kosovo's independence include:

  1. Serbia
  2. Russia
  3. China
  4. India
  5. Indonesia
  6. Brazil
  7. Mexico
  8. South Africa
By the way, Mexico is entirely consistent here, in that Mexico also does not recognize the Russian-declared "independence" of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Abkhazia, South Ossetia or Transnistria.

Russia’s nuclear-powered icebreakers are a game-changer

Mainly because the US has not bothered to modernize its heavy icebreakers.

The one it has now begun building are over budget and behind schedule, mainly because the same committee that took the original F-35 from a bomber to a jack of all trades, has designed these new breakers which are barely heavy duty, conventionally powered, with a hull that is designed for transit between the Arctic and the Antarctic - a big trade off from their primary mission: breaking ice. Still worse, the design is supposed to incorporate some form of defense, but no decision has been made on what that should be.

In short, the Russians have control of the Arctic because the US has ceded it by default.

With Alaska at 150° West longitude and Greenland at 41° West longitude, that gives the United States a wide swatch of the Arctic Ocean to patrol.

Particular with the addition of the Great State of Canada.

let’s cut spending not increase it

The mineral wealth of Greenland alone would erase the debt and substantially add to US gold reserves.

Absolutely genius! Then we can send all the illegal aliens, Palestinians, and their Dem supporters there. Can’t leave until you’ve produced 10 times your weight in rare earth minerals.

We want it and have great use for it and we seriously tried to buy it in 1947.

Rockingham: "Although a reliable and useful member of NATO...”

rxh4n1: "Besides their geographical position, they’re useless."

Denmark is a small country whose annual defense budget is barely $6 billion.
However, Denmark is contributing 19 F-16 fighters to Ukraine and buying 27 F-35s from the US, at a cost of over $100 million each.

Also, Denmark is the world's largest contributor to Ukraine in terms of percent of their GDP -- 1.8% of Denmark's GDP to Ukraine.

A similar contribution by the US would be over half a trillion dollars.

Straight of Malacca?

How about the Straight of Taiwan, Luzon Straight and the South China Sea?

from which to challenge Russia

Although if Putin’s genius manages to bankrupt Russia, Russia may become a near-do-well provincial state surrounded by is former clients, then independent states in their own right.

Greenland’s area is about 836,000 square miles,

Greenland’s area should be computed only on the ice free areas.
