106-year-old woman stays young with positivity, Fireball whiskey

Dec. 17 (UPI) -- A woman who celebrated her 106th birthday at her retirement home in Ohio credited her long life to a positive attitude -- and a love of Fireball whiskey.

Florence Hackman, who was nicknamed "Fireball Flo" after her love of the liquor led to the manufacturer sending her complimentary bottles and merchandise for her 105th birthday, turned 106 Monday at the Traditions of Deerfield senior living facility in Loveland.

"I just try to be nice to people and try to go one day at a time -- that's all," Hackman said in a post on the Traditions of Deerfield Facebook page. "If you get that one day in, then you can go on to the next one. So that's what you've got to do -- one day at a time -- think what I've got to do today. You've got to keep moving as long as you can."

The retirement home said Hackman still attends daily happy hours with her friends and closely follows her favorite sports team, the Cincinnati Bengals.

I absolutely love this song and the video that goes along with it by the performer pitbull…

FIREBALL!!!!

I went to a tailgate party a few years ago, and there were probably about 40 people there. They had the song linked above blaring, and a guy was going around with a bottle of the liquor, filling up shot glasses for people! Somebody had even given this guy a holster for the bottle, so he walked around with the bottle on his hip… :-)

Of course, the song is a complete earworm once you hear it!.

Fireball should put her in their next commercial, consoling the fat dude who had to shave his eyebrows. I think that would be a hoot!

Speaking of “fireball whiskey”....

The story goes that a seasoned citizen finally passed away at the ripe old age of 115, but before he died, he was asked about the secret of his longevity. He confided that he started out every morning with a shot of whiskey laced with a tablespoon of gunpowder.

His obituary following his cremation included “... he left behind his 4th wife, 3 sons and 2 daughters, 25 grandkids, and numerous great and great-great grandkids, also a 20-foot crater at the crematorium.

If I had to guess, it had more to do with genes.

Fireball whiskey is very popular with New Mexico alcoholics.

Plastic fireball bottles litter parks and parking lots frequented by the homeless.

Yes genetics plus she probably managed to avoid any debilitating diseases. Probably a non smoker too. I have zero desire to live that long but good on her.
Modest drinking is ok if it doesn’t cause you to lose your faith in God or beat your wife, lol.

I agree. Those with good genes will be able to get away with things that those with bad genes can’t. I’ve seen people that have done everything right like eating healthy, exercised, no bad habits and died in their 50s. Others drank, smoked, ate junk food, and more but lived into their 90s.

I remember she got into trouble for making racist statements about the Bengals when she owned the team.

Reminds me of the joke about the two girls shopping for scented candles and the blonde one sniffs a candle and declares “This one smells like Fireball”. Her friend says “honey, us non-alcoholics call that cinnamon”... ha ha ha.
