Vladimir Putin has been dealt a significant geopolitical blow with the downfall of Bashar al-Assad, whose regime in Syria the Russian president had committed considerable funding and military resources to propping up.
Assad fled Syria and has claimed political asylum in Russia, Kremlin-backed media reported, his now exiled status depriving Moscow of a key regional ally.
Russia's military assets in Syria are now under threat, such as its naval base in the port city of Tartus, which gave the Kremlin a presence near NATO's southern flank in the Mediterranean Sea.

Pro-Moscow military bloggers have expressed concern over the future of the Khmeimim Air Base near the city of Latakia, that was host to Russian aircraft whose bombardment of Aleppo in 2016 was key to Assad retaining power.
Without access to an air force base and a port that were linchpins for Moscow in the region, Murrett said: "Russia will not be in nearly as strong a position."
Also at risk are tactical outposts like Qamishli Airport in the northeast, while reports of thousands of stranded Russian personnel in Syria and equipment left abandoned point to the military cost for Putin. Russian troops have requested Ankara's help for for their safe exit, according to CNN Turk.

Oh, I dunno. Assad is going to have to spend every winter in Moscow for the rest of his life. And I hear that’s even worse than being stuck in Cleveland.
Our "allies" the Kurds will also be targeted.
It's just a matter of time before the jihadists that took over and Erdoğan, who becomes the de facto overlord of Syria, will target Israel.
At Trump has said, we shouldn't be or have been involved in Syria.
But leave it to Zeeptards like you to celebrate the mess Biden has created for Trump.
At least Assad won’t suffer the fate of Qaddafi.
Tell Putin to go back to Syria and rescue the Christians he abandoned.
Nah, the Heart of Rock and Roll is in Cleveland.

> No, the big losers are the Christians that will be slaughtered in Syria. <
I fear that you are correct. The Islamic radicals now in control of Syria will behave…but only for a while. Once the spotlight is off them, they will do what Islamists are driven to do - kill infidels.
The CIA backed ISIS terrorists are now fighting the pentagon backed SDF rebels, while Israel and America are bombing both sides.
John Bolton and Lindsey Graham are nodding in approval
I’m sure Assad has the money to live in the much warmer climate of Sochi.
You’re right!
Putin fled from Syria as fast as Biden fled from Afghanistan. Losers both.
Putin has Assad as a roommate now
Assad and Yanukovych are bunk mates in Putin’s guest bedroom.
If the US destroys Russian bases, even not on Russian soil, why cannot he reciprocate?
When the AntiChrist and Beast come around, they will be of and supported by the US.
Like Obama said, “We are the ones we have been waiting for”.
No, the big losers are the Christians that will be slaughtered in Syria.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Have you forgotten what Russia has done against Christians!?
Russia has killed 600.000 Russian CHRISTIAN troops on the killing fields of Ukraine.
Russia has killed more than 100.000 Ukrainian CHRISTIAN civilians in Ukraine, by leveling villages and towns.
Russia has killed CHRISTIANS in Georgia, Moldova...
Putin/Russia has killed way more CHRISTIANS than Assad, ISIS, Al Quaida and Syrian Rebels COMBINED!
I don't know what it is, if it's because he's a Democrat President, or if Biden is just so congenial, or there is more control over the media today?
But at every point, the US news media is essentially carrying him, may that be Afghanistan where they downplayed the blunder, Ukraine where it's all success and victory, Israel, Syria...
Unlike Bush W. in Iraq starting 2004 where the media was out to find everything negative and ignored all the successes. Where you had daily body counts with faces plastered on the TV every night, where every attack on US forces was made into a story, now if US service members are killed or wounded in Syria, it's like it never even happened, crickets.
Like in Ukraine, all you get is success, victory, all is great and fine stories with a small sprinkle of how a bunch of ISIS types are taking control of the place and in some cases we backed them.
Where are the stories questioning our motives, since it's surely not “democracy,” seeing how these are folks that just a few years ago wanted to create a Caliphate. Where are the concerns for peoples rights, since these folks aren't on board with LGBTQIA, feminism, freedom of religion or free speech, seeing how some of these groups taking power today were bragging on video not to long ago as the cut off heads of infidels and those that support them.
Things change quickly-
But one thing is for sure, I will never use the term “terrorist” again, even in the most egregious attack on us. Why? Seeing how we outright backed terrorist attacks in Russia, or were complacent about it, in the last two years, and how we back whack-jobs in Syria and Libya (when it serves our interests), this concept of a “terrorist” is no longer valid. It's just a pejorative used by one side to describe the actions of the other, but where both sides are equally stinky from the poop they are flinging.

One man's terrorist is another mans freedom fighter, and the idea that we have a moral high-ground is gone.
Once Trump is in office, will the US and European news media remain as "supportive" in every decision the administration makes?
The world loses. It takes a vicious strongman to contain the bloodlust of Muslims. How many more examples does the world need?
