U.S. — In what sources described as a "cruel" step to reduce waste of taxpayer funding at all levels, the Department of Government Efficiency has announced plans to force government offices to use only single-ply toilet paper.
The department headed up by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy took a hardline stance against government inefficiency, setting its sights on eliminating wasteful spending wherever it is found, including millions of bathroom stalls in federal buildings nationwide.
"Any government facility that believes it is worthy of two-play toilet paper must show cause," Ramaswamy said in a post on his X account. "The federal government has become bloated and horribly inefficient, which is why we're cutting costs in every way we can. If you can't take care of your business with single-ply toilet paper, you can't be trusted to take care of business for the American people."
Federal employees expressed outrage. "Single-ply? This is too far," said one government worker who asked to remain anonymous. "Have you ever tried to use single-ply toilet paper? It's disgusting. These people from DOGE are just trying to come up with new ways to be mean. Whatever money they save by forcing us to use single-ply toilet paper they're going to end up spending more on soap and hand sanitizer, because… well… it's going to be gross."
At publishing time, Musk reiterated that the switch would be non-negotiable. "Anyone working on behalf of the American public must be willing to get their hands dirty," he said. "In more ways than one."
Fingers are fine with me.
Have lysol wipes in that purse, they store nicely in a zip lock bag. Use TP to dry, and it is clean enough to eat off of.
Remodel all of the bathrooms for the next 4 years.
WET corn cobs......soaked in a bucket of water.

Government TP is the worst.
And they have to use both sides.
Oh the humanity. This is beyond cruel.
94% of government workers work remotely and now they are going to forced (if they want to keep their job) to go into a federal office that only has single ply toilet paper. Words fail me.
(/sarcasm)
That would be a bit over the top.
SHERYL CROW wanted us to “USE ONLY ONE SQUARE”
As full of BS as these jackasses are, this is a major issue!!!!!
Not the TP. Just the paper towels. They use more like those non-woven type towels. It works just fine. I think it’s one of those Kaisan waste elimination things. I liked it. I would get back to my hotel in Nara, off the train, and lay it out with my next day’s clothes. Japanese workers watch for little things and appreciate respecting their methods and goals inside the factory and in public.
Nobody in the offices, so the single-ply shouldn’t get used.
Gotta get me some of those rolls. On the other hand, it looks like they are triple ply. What’s up with that?
scott 1 ply for their pampered asses.
DOGE TP will be single ply and much more efficient.
Should be recycled one-ply.
