Eggplant
The food that is richest in nicotine concentration is eggplant. Eggplant contains a nicotine concentration of 100 ng/g. This vegetable is also a very good dietary source of fiber, vitamin B1, vitamin B6 and potassium. According to "The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods" by Michael T. Murray, the health benefits of eggplant consumption are directly linked to the presence of a strong antioxidant called nasunin 35. Nasunin protects the body against free radical damage, helps rid the body of excess iron and helps lower cholesterol levels.

Flame away and have fun.
RFK Jr said folks were a lot healthier when his uncle was prez.
Eggplant would be cheaper than a nicotine patch.
“What’s that on your shoulder?”
I could never figure out why people like eggplant. Now I know.
What about tomacco?
Along those lines, people used to be thin. A big problem today is obesity. Why are so many people obese? Lots of reasons: seed oils, High fructose corn syrup, lots of other stuff.
But also, people who smoke tend to be thinner. We traded smoking for obesity. Good trade? [shrug] Not my place to say.
What I will say is that the US government pretty much made tobacco illegal without making tobacco illegal. So many little laws and taxes trying to ban that substance while not actually banning that substance. I think that is an awful precedent. It’s a type of lawfare against citizens, punishing people for doing things that aren’t quite illegal.
I liked when they go to sneads seed and feed, formerly chucks.
It also helps texturally when you cannot afford meat or are Catholic doing meatless Fridays.
Cubed, seasoned and salted deep fried egg plant is pretty tasty.
As is a saute of roasted red peppers and eggplant with garlic, cheese and olive oil. Great on toasted garlic bread.
Might explain the nicotine found in mummies.
Sort of like vanillin being found in old world food when the vanilla bean is a new world food.
Vanillin is found in all sorts of things like oak. So aging wine in a oak barrel would impart vanillin into the wine without the need of vanilla bean.
(yes, I know. I am a history and food nerd. Y'all will just have to learn to live with it.)
Eggplant Parmesan made correctly is awesome
I make a Keto lasagna with eggplant. Way better than zuchini.
All those dollars states got from tobacco companies was to help fund treatments to quit but the price of nicotine replacement therapy doubled. Where did those 100s of billion go?
I’ve read several times that nicotine inhibits alzheimers. I will not take up cigarettes, but the patch? Maybe.
On the flip side, I remember this college student who stated that if she was drinking coffee while studying for an exam, she had to drink coffee DURING the exam to remember all the information she stored while studying. I just could not resist responding: “So, if I drink a bottle of scotch while studying, I need to drink during the exam?” She did not appreciate it. Oh, Well
I wish I liked eggplant but to me it’s gross.
Well, I guess I better eat some eggplant when I have one of my three cigarettes today. Never have been able to totally quit that dirty, nasty, stinky habit of smoking. But like Earl Weaver said something to the effect that ‘everytime I don’t have a smoke between innings the other team scores and we don’t’. Baseball historians may have to correct me slightly on that one.
“But also, people who smoke tend to be thinner. We traded smoking for obesity. Good trade? [shrug] Not my place to say.”
A while back, some author put out a book called something like “French Women Don’t Get Fat.” I didn’t read it, but my understanding is that it was all about the benefits of the typical mediterranean/wine & cheese diet in France versus American junk food and processed crap. But I’ve been to France twice in the last couple years, and there are plenty of junk food emporia over there two... and the supermarket shelves aren’t terribly different there compared to here. But the female smoking/vaping rate, 18-50, is easily QUADRUPLE what it is the U.S.A. The metabolic effects of that can’t be ignored by all the folks making negative comparisons about American and European waistlines.
*over there *too*
Also people who stop smoking have a bout of hypothyroidism about a year after stopping.
One of the reasons that levothyroxine is one of the most prescribed pills in the country
