A dog mauled its owner to death at her home in Boston, Massachusetts, on Monday before attacking police, NBC10 Boston reported.
Police identified the woman as 73-year-old Jeriline Brady-McGinnis.
Her husband was also badly injured during the attack, but is expected to survive.
Civil rights leader Jean McGuire, the couple’s landlord, lives above their apartment.
“She’s a wonderful person,” McGuire said about Brady-McGinnis. “She was generous and kind, always thinking of other people … We all miss Jeri. You don’t want anything horrible to happen to anybody, anywhere. She was a wonderful mother and a fine person, very respected.”
When police responded to the call that afternoon, they arrived to find the owners badly mauled.
While providing aid, the dog — a pit bull mix named “Deuce” — bit both officers, forcing them to shoot it, The Boston Globe reported.

People will never learn to not have a pit bull. They’re wonderful dogs until they’re not so wonderful and they try to kill you, often succeeding. I’m sticking with Labrador Retrievers. I don’t have to worry about our two trying to kill us.

That racial group loves those pit bulls, until they kill someone.
She was a wonderful person who was stupid enough to keep a killer dog. At least it killed her and not some hapless neighbor’s child. Firm Boston odds are she was a far left liberal anyway. Does she get a Darwin Award? She should at least get honorable mention if not the full award.
You can’t take all those generations of breeding out of a dog. I know people who have kept pit bulls with no problem, but it’s a terrible gamble and I wouldn’t have one.
There is someone locally who posts ads for the local area animal shelters highlighting dogs that need to be adopted or they’ll be put down. Probably 99% of them are pit bulls. No way I’d ever adopt one, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else adopt one either.
I once adopted a pit bull. The shelter warned me he hates cats. Not true. My cat hated him and kept his distance from the dog as best he could. The few times the dog got the cat cornered, all he would do is sniff the cat and try to be friends. Very sweet natured, loving dog.

When I adopted a pit bull from a shelter, the vast majority of dogs up for adoption were indeed pit bulls.

Dogs and wolves have common ancestors. Dogs were likely wolves that hung around humans for thousands of years, evolved to become docile around humans, partly through selective breeding by their owners, and partly through the slaughter of aggressive dogs. Private breeders of fighting dogs - for gladiatorial spectacles involving dogs - have tried to turn dogs back into wolves in temperamental terms. This incident may involve a product of such efforts.

Maybe I’ve watched too many crime shows but this is an excellent plan for the perfect murder. Get an aggressive type dog. Secretly train it to kill on command. Sic on spouse. Collect insurance.
People say that any dog can turn on you and injure or kill you - but near as I can tell, it’s the Pit Bull or Pit Bull Mixes you need to be worried about.
There something wrong with those dogs that no amount of breeding or training can fix.
Pit Bulls do what Pit Bulls do... Kill and maim...
Dumbasses buy them as pets...
