Donald Trump never broke 50% job approval ratings in his first term, but he's smashing that barrier now... and the Senate had better pay attention. He's not in office, so the visible job he has is largely putting together his cabinet and establishing his strategy, but voters are loving it. 54% approve, and only 40% disapprove. This indicates that a substantial portion of voters who voted against him are warming up to him.

A high initial approval rating normally doesn't mean much more than some of the people who voted against a new president are hopeful that the unfamiliar president will do better than they hope. Trump never got any benefit of the doubt in 2016; his earliest days were filled with accusations of coordinating his election with the Russians and painful blunders over Attorney General Jeff Sessions, General Mike Flynn and numerous campaign advisors. His job approval rating began below water and quickly fell to barely over 40%.
This term, Trump has strong support on many of his most important initiatives:
Americans support deportation of criminal illegal aliens, 72%-17%.
They want the border closed and policies which discourage illegal immigration reinstated, 64%-21%
They want government hiring to once again be race-neutral, 61%-19%.
They want government-dependent illegal aliens deported, 59%-25%.
They want new tariffs on China, 53%-29%.
They want 2017 tax cuts made permanent, 55%-19%.
HarrisX/Harvard did not poll on what I consider the most important and expect to be the one of the most popular initiatives, re-establishing the freedom of speech on social media.
What will success look like? 68% hope he can end inflation. Meanwhile their greatest fear is still the result of democratic fear-mongering: 46% are afraid he'll be a dictator. Fewer (34%) say they fear he'll govern too far to the right.
To me, the news here is that only 40% of Americans are set against Trump, and only 33% are strongly so. It's still possible to realign the nation like Reagan did.
Donald Trump never broke 50% job approval ratings in his first term... said the lying partisan media shill.
Said just about every pollster, right, left and center. Read the damned article.
Trump is “Master of All He Surveys.”
The resoundingly pro-Trump HarrisX/Harvard poll did not poll on what is to be one of
Trump’s most eagerly awaited initiatives: re-establishing freedom of speech on social media.
I think reading an entire article on FR is illegal :)
In all honesty, I think I’ve only broken the law 5x in 24 years :)
He also won’t be running for reelection this time although there will be the midterms to deal with but I’m not sure if they work into any of his thoughts at this moment.
Trump always seem to have every base covered.
With a side by side comparison of administrations, the nation got it right.
This is not a honeymoon, it is people finally admitting they support him without their neighbors screaming down their throats.
I hope and to a significant extent believe you are correct, which is why I find it relevant.
Fifty-Four percent is the absolute peak approval rating possible in the multi-tribal U.S. Colonies. The remaining 46 percent are retarded, hardcore, America-hating freeloading socialists.
No, it’s probably pretty far from absolute peak approval rating. Only 40% have a negative opinion of his job approval, and only 33% have a strongly negative, so he probably could convert enough people to theoretically reach 67%... but I’d guess that 60% probably is closer to the highest he can reach in the near future.
Keep in mind, that sometimes approval ratings are exaggerated; Bush’s 90% rating in no way meant that 90% of Americans could ever dream of voting Republican but were really only voicing support for the notion of unity during war. But with the mainstream media in such shocking disrepute, it’s probably a uniquely excellent time to make converts and reach towards a genuine 60% of the nation rooting for him.
Echelon Insights has a very similar poll result out today, with 53% of Americans approving of Donald Trump’s job performance on transitioning, and 40% disapprove. 31% strongly disapprove. Matt Gaetz is the only nominee underwater, and it’s by a LOT: 22% approve; 35% disapprove. 42% strongly disapprove of Trump as a person, so 58% is probably Trump’s job-approval ceiling.
