After more than ten years of trying to write a memoir and all the craziness that's happened in my life (manic depression, swindling operation, running for office, almost flying off with a hundred grand of George Lucas's money among MANY other episodes), that a lot of people have asked me to produce, I can report that as of this afternoon the draft of the manuscript of my first book is finished!Some parts have been written over the years but it wasn't until three months ago that I truly devoted myself to the project.
Thought I ought to post about it because Free Republic and some of the Freepers make appearances in it.
Okay, that's 133,000 words that I have written. I'm going to play with the dog now :-)

I have a copy of my first royalty check in a frame. The joy and excitement of finishing a book never gets old. Go for the money hire an editor and listen to the advice you pay for.

Ciaphas Cain, congregation for finally fnishing your book. That is more than I am. When I retired I prosmised myself to do the same. Now here at 91 and forgetting how to spell words and my life, like yours, has about 2 or three books to cover. Being born in 1933 just imagine the books I lived. Congratulations.

Congrats on finishing it. I can’t even “get started”...lol. Got any tips on motivating oneself to just buckle down and DO IT?
I’ve had an idea for a story for over twenty years now, but so far... nothing written down. That self-defeating inner voice keeps telling me “don’t be silly, you’re not a writer!”... and I keep believing it.
And the thing is... right now I’m thinking that my idea for this story is not enough for an entire book. But... if I ever did get “started”.. I think it probably would evolve into a saga...spanning hundreds of years. I just can’t quite get there.
I have a tip. Just sit down and start typing. Type ANYTHING.
