The Manhattan judge who oversaw Donald Trump’s hush-money criminal trial is expected to announce next week if the now-president-elect’s historic felony conviction will still stand.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan had already delayed sentencing by more than four months to come after the election — and gave himself until next Tuesday to decide if the conviction should be tossed.
Trump’s overwhelming election win will now further embolden his legal team “to make sure that sentencing never happens,” CNN chief legal affairs correspondent Paula Reid noted late Wednesday.
“Here, they’re going to argue to the judge that the sentencing should never happen because now that Trump is president-elect,” Reid noted.
“They will say that he is entitled to the same constitutional protections as a sitting president and should be protected from state actors, and in this case, state prosecutors.”

EVERYONE involved in this BS fiasco needs to be arrested and tried for election interference, along with Merrick and Smith. All should be sentenced to life in prison at GITMO as domestic enemy combatants. Give em a taste of lawfare grape shot....see how they like it.

I agree. It's not just election interference but treason. Prosecute especially "judge" Merchan and that prosecutor Alvin Bragg. These demococrats / communists should be put in prison.
All cases will be dropped. The purpose was to stop him from being elected. Didn’t work. Now, they’re all in the hot seat.
I would love to see a law that forbids foreign born from becoming US federal judges.
Whatever they do now, it’s just temporary. Sitting President means for the next four years. Not for the rest of his life. And it doesn’t mean a thing about his family, his friends and his associates. If they can’t spend the next 4 years trying to destroy him, they’ll try to destroy everything he loves. And once he’s out of office, they’ve got a hunting license ready to go after him again.
These people are pure mean. Their happiness comes from seeing someone cry. And they hate anyone who gets in their way of power and control. They use any tactic that wins them that power and control. And Trump has been their greatest enemy in that they’ve thrown nuclear bombs at him and he’s swatted them away. That emboldens others to ignore them and THAT can’t stand in their minds.
So their tactics will change but their goal will stay the same. Destroy anyone who stands in their path.
Trump stands there for US. He’s protecting US. And while he’s protecting us, we need to be there protecting HIM and voting for the laws that keep us all from being further intimated by MEAN people whose heroes are the Mean Girls of Beverly Hills.
We can hope Trump gets a vicious Attorney General and goes after every democrat the way they went after him. This will not stop until the democrats feel the pain they love to inflict on their enemies. First up. The Clintons. Second up. The Biden clan. Then the rest of the rotten swamp. Pelosi, Schumer, SChiff, Cheneys. Destroy them all and leave them penniless.

The problem is that the New York cases cannot "be dropped" because they all completed through to convictions, with the real estate case also completing the sentencing.
Merchan deferred the sentencing on the "hush money" case, but a jury conviction has already been handed down.
I suppose Merchan could still set aside the jury verdict and make a directed verdict of acquittal, but the Engoron case is complete and must go through the appeals process to be overturned.
Complicating this is that New York AG Leticia James announced yesterday that she's still on the warpath against President-Elect Trump and won't let the cases be overturned without a fight.
