Democrats Call For Abolishing Popular Vote

In the wake of their crushing defeat in the 2024 presidential election, Democrats have begun to call for abolishing the popular vote.

"Look, it's 2024 and I think it's time to let go of this antiquated and undemocratic idea of a ‘popular vote,'" said U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. "Our democracy is simply too fragile to just award the Presidency to whoever wins the most votes. We must come up with an alternative, like maybe a college of electors."

Democrats warned that the counting up the number of votes to see who received more was textbook fascism. "Democracy cannot survive in a system where you add up votes, because people could vote for fascists. Voting is how democracy dies," explained Democratic Senator Adam Schiff. "Voting is how we got Trump, and now our country is dead, again. It's time to protect democracy by eliminating voting altogether."

I know they say it in jest because it’s the Bee and all, but if we’re all totally honest, including them (even though that’s impossible), the truth is they’d just as soon abolish the vote entirely and just assume the authority to declare the President through party diktat.

Those poor Democrats, they don't know whether to sh*t or go blind.

They'll be playing the Blame Game and the What If Game for months.

Didn’t they want states to pledge their electors to the candidate who won the national popular Vote?

“college of electors”

Small group of elitists, globalists, oligarchs. She is so not for the little guy or gal, though that was her early schtick.

They’re done as a political force for maybe a couple of decades until they empty their house of the socialists.

OK, this is a Bee article. However, like most comedy, there is a germ of truth. So, there is an alternative:

Instead of voting by state, vote by Congressional District. Because each State has an elector for each District, have the votes IN THAT DISTRICT drive the elector selection.

This removes the City Effect.

They always want to eliminate the vote that lost them the election.

They’d love to eliminate the vote entirely, but need to keep up the charade that people could actually have a say in their government.

The funniest part of this story is the last paragraph: The Democrats think the elections should be decided by a barista named Tina.

A lot of the fun is that people don’t think it’s satire.;-)

I think it's pretty telling how they consider ignoring their own primary results and doing everything in their power to prevent their leading opponent from running a campaign "protecting our democracy".

Let's face it, the 'our' in that phrase isn't a broad, collectively American one- it's a party-line possessive.

It seems all too many people on the Left are slipping into the communist understanding of voting- it's not a decision to be made by "We the People", it's a performative act, showing that they're part of in-group by showing their support for the "right" candidate. They've literally come to see voting as just another ritual venue for virtue signaling. The Party tells them who to vote for, and they blindly do it to show that they're obedient little NPCs who don't deserve to be canceled, yet.

Lol.

My suggestion for the Democratic nominating process in 2028:

They should have a hard fought expensive and lengthy series of primaries around the country with lots of candidates participating.

When it is complete the DNC should meet and choose one of the candidates who won zero primaries.

Equity!

:-)
