what a memory....just awesome....caught em red handed.
Please explain...
Buckhead was the Freeper who showed that the Texas Air National Guard memo pushed by CBS and Dan Rather against George W. Bush was fake. And it was convincing. I still remember the thread....
a Free Republic poster named “BUCKHEAD” caught Dan Rather and CBS News using phony documents right before the 2004 election....it destroyed Rathers career at CBS news. Amazing memory...
To be replaced by a trio of human garbage - Norah O'Garbage, Lyin' Lesley Stahl and Margaret Brennan.
what a awesome night that was..
I think READ is looking for more information instead of just a “Rah! Rah!” post.
What is this “Truth” that is being watched?
Wherein is the statement; timestamp?
And finally, is this something one has to purchase to view?
I was on vacation in San Diego chucking quarters into a pay internet connection to follow that in real time.
no way!!...thats funny..
Buckhead is/was a FReeper from Buckhead area of Atlanta. On the night Dan Rather reported on the Memo from the Air National Guard Unit, Buckhead noticed the font of the memo could not exist. The type writers of that era did not have that font available. Buckhead posited that this was a fake.
He was correct and Rather was shamed.
There were many other freepers noticing other discrepencies, but Buckheads’ was the greatest.
(Please correct me if I am wrong. That’s how how I remember it.)
Buckhead, being a probate lawyer, caught it immediately..another guy did too, cant remember his name though.
I was lurking of Free Republic that night. I saw Buckheads post minutes after he posted it. My first thought was Holy S—t, he nailed it. I spoke with Buckhead at a Freeper Ball in DC. He was and is a kind person and not prone to grandstanding. He called it like it was. Buckhead and KC-Tanker defeated the opposition with truth. KC chimed in with how the fake was totally not with the way those items would have been typed at that time. Odd is it not, two obscure men changed the election. Kudos to them both.
Thank you for important reminder
He did a post where he overlaid the fake memo with the same text written on Microsoft Word in the default setting. (I think it was Word, but don’t quote me). It was identical down the small superscript “nd” in “2nd”. Typewriters of the time didn’t raise the “nd” off the line. At least not those used on Air National Guard Bases. It was stunning.
KC tanker perhaps.
Thanks for jogging my memory.
"Newsroom drama detailing the 2004 CBS "60 Minutes" report investigating then-President George W. Bush's military service, and the subsequent firestorm of criticism that cost anchor Dan Rather and producer Mary Mapes their careers."
Long may Buckhead live!

WE NEED TO SEE THOSE MEMOS AGAIN!
They are not in the style that we used when I came in to the USAF. They looked like the style and format we started using about 12 years ago (1992). Our signature blocks were left justified, now they are rigth of center...like the ones they just showed.
Can we get a copy of those memos?
