CNN data expert Harry Enten said that despite it being a close race on the surface, there is a high chance that the election will actually end with the winner receiving over 300 Electoral College votes.
CNN news host John Berman noted that the election seems “historically close,” but asked, “What if it’s not?”
He then turned to CNN senior political data reporter Enten to break down the numbers and observed, “As close as it is, and we do believe it‘s super-close right now, that also means that if things change, even just a little bit, it‘s not really close.”
“It isn’t,” Enten agreed. “So we have been talking about the idea that there‘s going to be a historically close election. I think I might have said it on this particular program, but in fact — will the winner get at least 300 electoral votes? The answer is, majority [chance] yes.”
He then broke down how there may be a “relative blowout” in store for the 2024 election.
“There is a … 60% chance that the winner of this election gets at least 300 electoral votes versus just a 40% chance that the winner ends up getting less than 300 electoral votes,” he said. “So for all the talk that we had about this election being historically close, which it is, chances are the winner will still actually score a relative blowout in the Electoral College.”

It's very tiresome.
Blowout as in 1972 Nixon blowout or the 1984 Reagan blowout?
Maybe the Democrats will throw caution to the winds. Maybe they will give Kamala a landslide. All 50 states for Kamala! 120 million votes!! Wha’ cha gon’ do ‘bout it?
True, true. I remember during the final week of the 1984 race, crowds heckled Walter Mondale with chants of “four more years, four more years, with fritz responding, “Four more days is all you got.” Did he really believe that as he stood on the precipice of losing 49 states? He probably did. There’s always hope that the polls are wrong and that things are going to go a different way.
“You mean there’s a CHANCE?”
I remember the media all clutched their pearls when George Bush said about an upcoming VP debate, “We’re gonna kick a little ass tonight.”
Trump could have 49/50 numbers and Harris STILL plans on taking it to court and delegitimize MAGA.
Only babbling idiots on these shows.
There were several quotes of Mondale before the election where he admitted he knew he would be crushed but his “compassion” made him proud.
He was not very “compassionate” towards taxpayers—that was for sure.
The winner of the last 2 elections each got 300+ and neither were a blowout.
U oh. Not good.
Anytime the word “blowout” is used...normally that is where Heels up Harris excells.....
Ah yes, good old Walter “We’re gonna tax their ass off!” Mondale.
There has not been a blowout in the EC since ‘88. And even that was a “mini-landslide”
I am praying for a Reaganesque Blowout. If only to completely demoralize leftists and enshrine their defeat on the ash heap of history so that all can see what leftism brings a country to and what eventually happens when good fights back.
I remember in 1980 the media calling it very close or Carter having a lead. After the Reagan landslide they tried to claim voters broke at the last minute for Reagan. I’ve always believe Reagan had a big lead from the beginning and the media just refused to report it.
As for this election we keep seeing national numbers polls. What matters is the state numbers, particularly the tossup states. It looks like Trump is leading in most of them.
Reagans’s people said the race never changed after July, but the media helped Carter all the way until Brokaw’s famous frown on election night.
