‘Eating My Body’: Ringo Starr Reveals Major Health Battle
Daily Caller ^ | October 18, 2024 | Leena Nasir - Entertainment Reporter

Ringo Starr opened up about a serious medical condition that caused him to cancel the last few days of his recent tour.

The legendary singer clarified previous reports that suggested he was suffering from Covid-19 and set the record straight about his recent health battle in an interview with Variety published Oct. 18.

It “knocked me down,” Starr admitted. “It wasn’t the virus — I had that two years ago,” he said, referring to Covid 19. Starr then revealed the horrifying reality he was forced to contend with.

“It was a mad thing eating my body, and they found out when they took my blood that the white cells there was 12,000 of ’em,” Starr told Variety.

The famous singer took a moment to explain the severity of the situation at the time.

“That’s pretty high,” he said.

“And that happens. That’s what saved your life — they were fighting the attacker,” he told the outlet.

Starr explained that he had to undergo medical treatment to overcome his illness.

“And so with pills and medication, I got over it in two weeks,” he said.

Starr didn’t divulge any further information about what he went through, or what may have caused his body to attack itself in such a manner. He also didn’t specify if he had to be hospitalized during this recent health scare.

T. Bone Burnett, who was also part of the interview, spoke out about Starr’s current health, and marveled at how well he has rebounded and how he continues to take care of himself.

“I saw him play at the Ryman a few months ago, and, he took a break in the middle and his dressing room was upstairs, and he ran up the stairs,” he told Variety, making reference to how Starr ran up and down the stairs after a taxing performance that included drumming and singing.

“So I think he’s got plenty of miles left in him,” he continued.

Saw him in ‘95 with Randy Bachman, Mark Farner, and Billy Preston. He is one heck of a showman.

Last time I saw him was 2019 at DPAC in Durham NC.
Love the guy and his all star rotating band members.

Ringo is the only Beatle I have seen. He was walking by himself on Beale Street in Memphis. That was about 20 years ago.

Loved their music and hope he recovers.

Ringo Starr ... The legendary singer ...

Me thinks the writer has never listened to the Beatles.

“Very poorly written. Still unclear what ailed him.”

Not to worry Ivermectin will kill it off.

Very poorly written. Still unclear what ailed him.

Perhaps on purpose, but it appears to be some sort of white blood cell count problem.

I had an aunt who died from a blood cell problem that was the opposite of Leukemia - too many of this or too few of that.

He was the only Beatle that never took himself too seriously. Ringo always seemed to be enjoying life.

Wasn’t he the one who recorded the “No No Song”?

Legend has it that he can’t sing.

When one of his songs starts on my Sirius/XM I immediately change the station.

The legendary singer…

I still think of Ringo Starr as a drummer first and a singer second or maybe third.

He is 84 years old and looks good. Age catches up to EVERYONE.

Except Keith Richards.
