The CIA analyst who triggered Trump’s first impeachment asks: Was it worth it?
The Washington Post ^ | Oct. 20, 2024, 5:03 a.m. ET | Greg Jaffe

The young CIA analyst waited anxiously for Fiona Hill to pick up her phone. He had dialed her, he recalled, because he wanted to hear a familiar voice and make sure he wasn’t doing something “colossally stupid.”

Five years later Hill’s memories of the call are still vivid: the CIA analyst’s voice, which sounded uncharacteristically emotional; the annoying clatter of the Frappuccino machine inside the Starbucks where she was waiting for her morning coffee.

Hill stepped into the parking lot. She was on vacation in Hawaii, having just resigned a week earlier from her job in Donald Trump’s White House overseeing Russia, Ukraine and dozens of other European and Eurasian countries. She and the analyst had spoken often as part of their official duties.

Because they were talking on an unclassified phone line, the analyst had to be vague. In the weeks before Hill left government, she had become concerned that figures close to the president, including his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, were trying to pressure Ukrainian officials for personal and political favors.

“Something else happened on that thing you were worried about,” the analyst told her. The time had come, he said, for him to do something “extreme.”

“Oh dear, oh dear,” Hill recalled muttering.

The CIA analyst would soon submit a meticulously sourced nine-page memo to the U.S. intelligence community inspector general that would spark Trump’s first impeachment. In Washington and around the world, the analyst would be known as “the whistleblower,” a moniker that he didn’t choose and has come to see as a burden.

In the half decade since his complaint kicked off a political firestorm, the analyst has declined all requests to speak publicly about his actions, even as he has reckoned privately with whether they...

And keep in mind that scumbag Fiona Hill was ANTI UKRAINE and pro Russia but then claimed she “saw the light” when the opportunity came to smear Trump.

These people are pure shit.

Eric Ciaramella is the treasonous Deep Stater who was part of the attempted coup of a sitting President. He needs to be held accountable.

He who must not be named. What a colossal blunder by the DOS. Trump wanted to investigate corruption in Ukraine. The Dems freaked out because Joe Biden was raking in the money via his son, Hunter. 10% held by H for the big guy.
Let’s not forget FTX, a bitcoin operation to launder tax payer dollars in Ukraine and funnel it back to the Dems and RINOs.

Just my guess that the “analyst” is another hysterical gay leftist.

And his “meticulous” memo of the conversation was full of lies.

I love how the article says Burisma, Hunter, etc, were all “baseless” lies.

This is news that the democrats show what they were up too. I think it’s important to know what the creeps were up to. I hope we get every shady news article known exposed on Free Republic. This is good works being done by fellow FREEPERS.

I miss the days when you could come to FR every hour and there would be dozens of new articles posted, and in those days there weren’t any precious snowflakes too delicate to be exposed to anything they didn’t like. Rush Limbaugh spent most of his showtime on gaslight press content. I am no Rush Limbaugh, but I get bored reading things I agree with all the time.

Agree 100%. The lack of articles is disturbing. Your words made me go out and post a few. It's not hard.

Of all the presidents who’ve been impeached, none has ever been convicted. And of those impeached, only one was impeached for a absolute, verifiable, no getting around it criminal acts, and that was Slick Willy’s perjury before a grand jury, obstruction of justice and witness tampering in the Semen-Stained Blue Dress Affair.

As I read this story and, and more importantly, the comments, I am stuck by a couple of critical points.

1. The so-called Democrats are the badly misplaced focus of the majority of comments. It ain’t just the Dems. It’s them PLUS. It’s the deep state bureaucrats and their like-minded friends in both parties (can anyone say Liz Cheney, Mitch McConnell and a host of others). Not knowing who your enemy is can be deadly.

The Dems have plenty of co-conspirators. They don’t got no monopoly on this sleaze.

2. This bi***ch Fiona Hill is one more huge snake in the grass, along with the wimp Vindman.

In the end, Trump won with the release of the transcript but it didn’t change much of “the rest of the story.”

You’re right. We don’t build intellectual or argumentative skills if we don’t know what is being discussed outside our own camp.

The “whistleblower” was a Democrat operative who was paid to make up this bs.

P.S. Keep posting these articles, I like to see what the other side are saying.

I didn’t tell you to stop.

All you are posting these days is negative towards President Trump.

It makes you look like a Democrat plant.

Perhaps you could post some positive articles about President Trump.

Unless you don’t want to do that.

I miss the good old days when there weren’t people who acted like a jackass when you point out their behavior.

Or,

You could post some negative articles about The Democrat Party Organized Crime Syndicate.

You know, anyone who still supports the Democrats has an evil and criminal heart, mind and soul.

Politics is the art of telling big lies, hence all the lawyers. The hobby of politics is pointing out all the lies. Free Republic is more a snipers nest than a safe space.

Only a simple-minded twit would say that anyone wanting to know what the Democrat enemy was up to "has an evil and criminal heart, mind and soul."

I have posted thousands of articles that you would approve of.

I have decided I don't need the approval of delicate precious snowflake bullies like you.

Looks like you post three or four articles a year so you have plenty of time to whine about what I post.

How is accurately saying Rush Limbaugh devoted most of his showtime to corporate gaslight press articles a "cheap shot?" You sound deranged.
