Timothy Dolan let a white-tie charity dinner in New York showcase that most uncharitable of men, Donald Trump.
At the annual Al Smith dinner, Dolan suffused the impious Trump in the pious glow of Catholic charities. Dolan looked on with a doting expression as Trump made his usual degrading, scatological comments about his foils, this time cloaked as humor.
“We have someone in the White House who can barely talk, barely put together two coherent sentences, who seems to have mental faculties of a child,” Trump told the New York fat cats. “It’s a person who has nothing going, no intelligence whatsoever. But enough about Kamala Harris.”
Trump also offered this beauty: “I used to think the Democrats were crazy for saying that men have periods. But then I met Tim Walz.” When Trump joked about keeping Doug Emhoff away from nannies, even he admitted it was “too tough.”
As he did in 2016 when he crudely attacked Hillary Clinton as she sat on the dais, Trump added a rancid cloud to what used to be a good-tempered bipartisan roast.
Dolan could have stood up and told Trump “Enough!” We have been longing for that voice of authority who could deliver the Joseph Welch line — “Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last?” — to our modern Joe McCarthy. It is the church’s job, after all, to teach right from wrong.
Instead of telling Trump he was over the line, Dolan enabled him in his blasphemous effort to cast his campaign as a quasi-religious crusade and himself as a saintly martyr saved by God. The conservative cardinal didn’t care about soiling the legacy of the great Democratic patriot Al Smith.

I saw an oral surgeon on Tuesday, and his literature in the waiting room was conservative, and he had Fox News in the TVs. Not a fan of FNC but I give him points for NOT having CNN or MSNBCC.

I think in general terms most conservatives when it comes to politics are happy to agree to disagree but the totalitarian streak among leftists means cancel culture is the rule. If you are on the right you become a non person to them. If it is just no longer speaking to each other the silver lining for us is peace and tranquility.

Biden and Harris savage their opponents and repeat the same lines - and they’re cheered on.
Biden spoke about marrying women with numerous sisters, so one is always available. Harris’ hubby had a second family with the babysitter. Walz is accused of having Sex with his young students.
Biden openly said, “No one Fuccks with a Biden” speaking of how he controls everything.
This is faux outrage from a woman that was way too deep into the wine and too shallow into her material.
Yup, the left will pull out all the stops.
And of course, blame Trump.
Uh, isn’t that what literally every candidate says at that dinner about themselves and their opponents? Every single time?
If the author objects to that kind of talk at a charity dinner she would not just be writing about it now, nor just targeting Trump.

Trump gave his Presidential salary to various charities all four years he was in office. I’d like to see what the total dollar amount of charitable contributions from the combined Democrat members of the Senate was during that time period.
We know from their tax returns and required financial disclosures that Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Barack Hussein Obama,Joe Biden,and Kamala Harris gave embarrassingly low amounts of their income to any charitable causes. I remember when the percentage Al Gore gave was released it was truly shocking.

You know, Maureen. It really is sad that anyone ever thought highly of you, that your opinions had value, that you might have been a conservative, once. That you might have even been decent enough to look at.
