A DJ once reported a major solar flare story and said “Scientists claimed the waves from the event could affect human brains on earth. Sure enough, men called each other and then went out shopping all day and women stayed home in front of the TV with friends drinking beer, eating snacks and watching the game.

Good.

Maybe we can actually have a night where it’s clear and an aurora at the same time.

I saw the comet tonight.

This reminds me of about 4 or 5 years ago (more or less). The scientists were predicting:

Evidently they were wrong.

Do we have to go outside and squint up at the sky at a certain time in a certain direction until our necks get stiff? I haven’t seen the Aurora or the comet yet.

That enormous glowing ball of plasma sure seems temperamental. I think we can all be grateful that it has no effect on our weather, otherwise we’d have even more climate change than we already do.

Casualties will be calculated, and the victims will have twenty-four hours to report to a disintegration station so their deaths may be recorded.

--Star Trek (TV series), A Taste of Armageddon

That is, some will be inclined to use the occasion of this unseen event to call for whatever autocratic response the Deep State wishes.

"This just in, it appears the ballot-counting computers for all fifty county-wide precincts have gone down all at once as of approximately fifteen minutes ago. We are being told by NOAA that satellite connections over the entire Southeast have been disrupted by solar flares. Ballot counting has been reported as interrupted in several key swing states as well. We will let you all know when those links have again become operational. In the meantime, we return you now to our regularly-scheduled programming."

The solar cycle is an approximately 11-year period during which the Sun oscillates between periods of low and high magnetic activity. At the cycle’s peak, the Sun undergoes a magnetic flip where its magnetic poles reverse positions—akin to Earth’s North and South poles switching places every decade. This transition marks the shift from a quieter phase to one of intense activity and frequent solar storms.

It's really an 11 year HALF cycle, with the poles returning to the same location every 22 ish years.

Importantly, there are differences in the sun's radiation power related to the differences between the inner and outer sun's core. They beat at slightly different rates, meaning that for some cycles they add to each other and for some cycles they fight.

For more info, look up grand solar minimum or maunder minimum. (Those who subscribe to "global warming" from human causes hate this info.)

All this Solar activity had already resulted in some spectacular sky shows at lower latitudes than normal. This one happened in New Zealand.
