Trump Has Turned It Up to 11
The New York Times ^ | Oct. 16, 2024 | Thomas B. Edsall

Posted on 10/16/2024 4:07:31 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Donald Trump is so dependent on racial and ethnic antagonism that without it, he would be a marginal figure, relegated to the sidelines.

Trump’s constant demonization of Black people and immigrants has inured the public to the fact that he is the first — or certainly the most explicit — modern president and party nominee to transparently generate, not to mention exacerbate, fear and white animosity toward people of color.

Despite his appeal to a small if potentially crucial segment of Black and Hispanic men, racial bigotry has been central to Trump’s appeal from his initial quest, in 2015 and 2016, to take over the Republican Party. In the closing days of the 2024 election, he continues to foment race hatred and to rely on it ever more intently.

The 2018 book “Identity Crisis: The 2016 Presidential Campaign and the Battle for the Meaning of America,” by the political scientists John Sides, Michael Tesler and Lynn Vavreck, documented the success of Trump’s strategy.

“Trump was distinctive in how he tapped into white grievance,” they wrote. “Trump’s primary campaign became a vehicle for a different kind of identity politics” — one oriented toward capitalizing on the feeling of many white people that they were being “pushed aside in an increasingly diverse America.”

The crazy NYT Tom Edsall is a nephew of Harvard’s John Edsall, whom I knew!

Once again proving my contention that everytime a person reads the NY Times, they walk away stupider than before they read it.

I hope there is a hot hell for people like this liar.

If anything, President Trump does not preach racial hatred. He is a unifier. He is not a bigot.

This Edsall man would be subject to a libel judgment is a just world.

The Trumpster is at 11, whilst the NYT struggles to get the voltmeter to move.

One of the things I have always appreciated about Leftists is that if if you listen to them, they will tell you exactly what they think and what they intend to do.

You just have to listen to them.

They cannot help themselves. And if you listen to them and read them long enough, you develop a sense that becomes finely tuned. It becomes tuned to the point that often, within the first sentence, if not the first few words, you can discern EXACTLY what they are going to say.

Exactly.

In this case, they tell us in the first ten words exactly what point they want to make. Granted, it isn’t hard, because Leftists are a bunch of hive-mind morons, and they can barely generate an original thought, so you have almost always heard their point in another shape or form from other Leftists.

You see this in their protest chants. It makes me grit my teeth at the shallow, lemming-like stupidity and lack of originality which is exemplified in their chant of “Hey-Hey-Ho-Ho-Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah go!”

But I digress. I was talking about appreciating their lack of originality, and I do. If I were to calculate how much time they have saved me from having to read or watch the entirety of their drivel, I expect it would add months onto my life. Months that I would have never gotten back if I read or listened to the entire length of their screechings.

At this point in my life, after nearly fifty years of it, it has turned into somewhat of a parlor game, where after reading five words, I can divine exactly what the remainder says.

So, for that, I do thank them.

But I got it in the first four words associated with the “opinion piece”...

“The New York Times”.

Lately it’s been hard to differentiate between the Babylon Bee and The NYT. NYT seems to be engaging in unintentional satire, they’re so over-the-top.

Was just reading how Trump allowed Mandela and his entourage (80) to use his plane*. What ? There were no other rappers, big leaguers moguls with a plane?
There was a $130,000 fee but that was below commercial rates.

Wrong. The animosity we feel has nothing to do with Trump.

He’s most likely to reduce our animosity because we know we actually have some representation and say over how our government runs and how our taxes are spent.

The animosity that I feel is not directed at anyone because of their race or ethnicity (unlike this author who promotes genocidal blood libel against whites, especially white Christian conservative males).

My animosity is toward people like this lying, libelous author. And it is because of what I hear directly from them, not what Trump or anyone else says about them.

Men like this author warrant revisiting the founders’ opposition to cruel and unusual punishment. The author deserves punishment that is both.

First thought in my head... “is that Mr. Wilhelm from Seinfeld?”. The character did end up in a carpet sweeper cult and changed his name to Tania.

Yikes!
