YouTuber Jack Doherty totals $200K McLaren during live stream after apparently texting while driving in rain

YouTube personality and Kick streamer Jack Doherty totaled his $200,000 McLaren supercar as he apparently texted and drove in the rain — while live-streaming himself.

Video of Doherty’s Kick stream shows the 20-year-old Internet star looking down at his phone in his hand as he drives along a slippery Miami highway Saturday morning.

Seconds later, Doherty loses control of the vehicle, screaming as he glides across the right lane and smashes into a guard rail. The video on the streaming platform goes white, and his cameraman in the passenger seat can be heard groaning in pain.

The two men can then be heard struggling to get out of the wrecked vehicle, with one frantically crying out, “Open the door! Open the door!”

The footage then cuts to Doherty examining his wrecked, wildly custom-painted car. The social-media star, who is now shirtless in the clip, kicks his mangled whip twice.

“All my money’s gone,” Doherty says before listing the upgrades he shelled out big bucks for on the vehicle, including a custom exhaust system and its paintball-gun-splatter paint job.

Doherty purchased the McLaren at the end of last year for $202,850.10, according to his YouTube channel.

According to Sportskeeda, there were 185,000 people in Doherty’s livestream at the time of the crash.

Noticed that— sobbing over his car, babbling incessant ‘bro-speak’... Good Lord.

Yep.....poetic justice. Too easily come by.

[for the life of me I think calling your car your “whip” is pretty damned stupid]

Never heard of him. I had to comment on the sad state of affairs we’re in, when this kid has 185K people watching him live. Are there so many mush-brained people out there? (Rhetorical)

Not sure that “living in reality” would include owning/driving a McLaren.

At least he didn’t involve any innocent people in his stupidity.

Well, I don’t agree with ‘public hangings’; but I do think dropping driver’s education in schools has been a loss.

Two tons of metal and plastic is two tons of metal and plastic no matter what shape it is formed in or what it is labelled. Chevy, Ford, or McClaran, two tons is two tons. Physics are not smart enough to care or distinguish a difference. That is the lesson kids need to learn. Mass and inertia can kill them or others. It is not a video game and you cannot come back and try the level again. It is for real and it is for good. That reality is now missing in culture.

It is a very powerful and effective psychological deterrent. What we do now very obviously does not work at all... It just doesn’t make an impact like a public hanging would.

Drastic situations require drastic measures. The punishment needs to be just as brutal and uncompassionate as the crime or it does not work as a deterrent.

I don’t have any idea how this guy got famous or really who he is, but I see him on X periodically. He has the most punchable face I have ever seen.

“We need to show the gore of vehicle accidents”

Decades ago it was shown that isn’t effective. They blind-spot it or at least compartmentalize it. Similar to pics of drug addicts. Couldn’t happen to them.

I don’t recall any time in my lifetime when we have had ‘public hangings’ and especially don’t recall ever subjecting children to viewing such. But life was pretty peaceful and behavior generally reliable for most of my past 70+ years.

I do recall much more responsible parenting, education and law enforcement, than we have today.

I’m not so sure, it worked for myself and my kids. And they have spread the word all their lives to peers. I grew up into and owned a tow company most of my life and they got to see reality up close and for real. Never will they forget those visuals or what causes those visuals. Never will they forget the smells.
