The 'horrific' reason fentanyl deaths are going down (running out of people to kill)

Deaths from fentanyl appear to be going down for the first time in a decade after reaching astronomic levels - but experts warn there's a 'horrific' reason behind it.

They say the drug is simply running out of people to kill, after claiming the lives of around 320,000 Americans in the last decade.

Last year, around 75,000 people in the US were killed by the lethally potent drug, which was slightly down on the previous year and the first time deaths have fallen annually since 2011.

Dr Caleb Banta-Green, an addiction expert at the University of Washington, says King County, which includes Seattle, is like a microcosm for the rest of the country.

Deaths from fentanyl there plummeted nearly 10 percent at the end of 2023 compared to the last quarter - but Dr Banta-Green believes the outbreak is 'self-extinguishing'.

He told local news station KUOW: 'There are only so many people who are using a drug, and when it has that high of a lethality rate, it will eventually — in a really horrific way — start to self-extinguish itself like a forest fire.

'So, it's literally burning out the fuel. The horrible thing in this instance is the fuel is people.'

My Dad father was a tea totaler and a cop. I understood the realities long before I was 12 and did it anyway out of pure human nature and adolescent defiance. We all had this to one degree or another. “Don’t throw that ball in the house...” is where it starts. Some learn after breaking a window, some never learn because they never broke a window. But we were not going to be told what to do or not do. Humans only learn from their own mistakes or the direct mistakes of others they love or admire.

I was responding to the fact that the poster stated that weed was a mostly leftist drug

It is a drug that both ends of the politcal spectrum.

You are correct there is no lethal dosing of LSD.

However there is permanent damage when at high dosing that requires lifetime care

(we accessed barbiturates because a friend stole them from a pharmacy),

Fun fact: In my current job role, I help catch people who do this. 😁

Barely beyond statistical noise.

What they don't tell you is that the breakout of xylazine "tranq" abuse during The White Hospice's soon-over term -- just recently pimped by the MSM yesterday as Diddy's party favorite "horse tranquilizer" -- is cheaper than fentanyl and is primarily cut into fentanyl, which can reduce fentanyl's potency and also its potentiation with other drugs, which might explain the marginal reduction in fatalities. This would explain how deaths dipped despite no corresponding reduction in abuse.

“However there is permanent damage when at high dosing that requires lifetime care.”

Like me? :)

It was my drug of choice and I have probably done more than most have ever done. I actually became functional while on it because I did so much of it. Being high on LSD was my “normal” state of mind for years.

But let me share that it is the opposite of what you think. The use of LSD heightens awareness, especially spiritual awareness, and critical thinking skills. It helps to see through the illusions and see the world and humanity for what they really are. It heightens deductive reasoning and problem solving abilities.

So what you perceive as damage might very well be “realization” beyond parameters most would ever understand unless they have been there themselves. Some of the most brilliant minds in the world were influenced by the use of LSD because they see the world and understand the around them more clearly...

Same goes for the diseases that killed most Indians in north south and central america. the death toll was over 90%

an interesting question posed by scientists was this: why did the black death only kill about 40% of europeans? (that is, why didn’t it kill over 90% of the european population like european and african diseases killed amerindians?)

turns out the first time the black death burned through europe was about 1900 BC. There were small cities all over europe at the time. they died out. scientists found traces of the killer virus in their bones.

that earlier back death is widely credited with clearing the way for the steppe people (from roughly today’s ukraine) to invade Europe after 2000 BC.
