I know there are a lot of local fast food chains that are favorites.
It's Sunday have fun, and flame away.
They are all now owned by Venture Capital companies.
You know what they call a quarter-pounder in Europe?
Drive-through death.
I remember when their burgers were 25 cents.
1. McDonald’s
2. Subway
3. Starbucks
4. Kentucky Fried Chicken
5. Burger King
6. Domino’s
7. Pizza Hut
8. Dunkin’ Donuts
9. Taco Bell
10. Wendy’s
11. Papa Doc’s Ducks, Pups and Pussy Cats
we had a lot of local chains that are dead. I miss many of them.
Currently we have a a burger place that is down to three.
They were bought by a different restaurant chain for some reason maybe 15 years ago and while the food is the same, they keep closing locations because development and ada requirements or other excuses.
I still go a few times a year even if the closest one is 15 miles away, despite the fact that I used to be able to get a double bacon burger and fries for $5 and now it is $16
I just don’t want them all to close.
Aren’t there something like 10,000 KFC outlets in China? I read some time ago that KFC is extremely popular there.
I never buy anything from fast food chains though years ago, ChickFilet was OK with me. And decades ago, Steak and Shake, great food, nice shops.
I hate pizza. I don’t eat wheat or pork ,and gave up beef recently when they started injecting MRNA vax into cows. Which leaves me with organic, pasture-raised chicken. Also eat Pacific Coast Canadian salmon. And organic Tofu, which I make yum enough with Trader Joe Sweet Chili Sauce. Trader is great source for all my faves, lucky to have one within walking distance.
Their Olive Burger is good, their onion rings are good.
But.... their fried apple pies are SO good!
A nice cold Vernors to wash it all down.
Milo's is pretty good as well. We stop there every year while traveling to visit family.
The little local chains are always fun to visit.
I miss Mr Fables.
In the world’s largest list how did they miss China’s
Cat-Fil-A and Bat-King Wet Buffet?
Their coated spicy chicken feet franchise Forbidden Cluckee’s is popular at airports and illegal dog fight pits in China but admittedly not as popular around out regions.
“Big Rösti”
The very best Big Rösti my wife and I ever had was in the mountain huts in the Swiss Alps. There’s nothing like a vigorous hike in the Alps and then arriving at a mountain hut way back in the mountains for hot eggs & rösti
We used to love Popeye’s cajun fried chicken until they changed the recipe to make it milder... or at least the independently owned ones changed we used to frequent changed their recipe.
Read later, as a fast food foodie.
Two fun fast food factoids
In my early days of studying archaeology, there were fun stories about how future archeologists would find and speculate about all the buried Golden Arches. Imagine future archeologists speculating on the Church Of The Golden Arches.
The other fun fact is from childhood. Growing up with my six brothers and sisters, there were some lean years. Sometimes, Dad had no car, and we did not eat out. When dad did gave car, it was usually a station wagon. When we did have money, for not just a car, but to go out, one of the favorites was the A & W Drive-In. The waitresses zoomed around on roller skates. They would hang these serving trays on the car windows. With 9 of us, there was a serving tray on all four windows. The Mama Burgers and the Papa Burgers. Also, many times, there were French Fries EVERYWHERE throughout the car interior. Mom and dad did not complain about the French Fries all over the car interior, but once we returned home, we had to clean it out.
I’m guessing a good Chardonnay with a Big Mac isn’t written about in Food & Wine magazine.
