From burger behemoths to international pizza joints, F&W rounds up the world's largest fast food chains.
McDonald's
The burger behemoth tops the list over Subway by a few hundred stores worldwide. While the Big Mac is ubiquitous in the United States, in Europe the chain also sells the Big Rösti for a limited time each year — beef patty, hash brown patty, Emmentaler cheese, and bacon on an onion-flavored bun.

Two fun fast food factoids
In my early days of studying archaeology, there were fun stories about how future archeologists would find and speculate about all the buried Golden Arches. Imagine future archeologists speculating on the Church Of The Golden Arches.
The other fun fact is from childhood. Growing up with my six brothers and sisters, there were some lean years. Sometimes, Dad had no car, and we did not eat out. When dad did gave car, it was usually a station wagon. When we did have money, for not just a car, but to go out, one of the favorites was the A & W Drive-In. The waitresses zoomed around on roller skates. They would hang these serving trays on the car windows. With 9 of us, there was a serving tray on all four windows. The Mama Burgers and the Papa Burgers. Also, many times, there were French Fries EVERYWHERE throughout the car interior. Mom and dad did not complain about the French Fries all over the car interior, but once we returned home, we had to clean it out.
Chik-Fil-A is not quite a tenth the size of McDonald’s in terms of store count. I had no idea it was that large. Only seen one.
I don’t, but I understand from a reliable source that they eat their French fries with mayonnaise
Yes, there is a holiday celebration for Christmas and New Years, but not the same as ours.
Christmas is close to the real Christmas, but mainly for romantic couples to go out (and to the love hotel).. On the outside (bubble) it DOES look the same, same decorations (and some of their own), cake, etc (case-by-case, it can be a family get together).
New Years is also similar (and case-by-case). Couples stay up, in line go through to shrines (or temples, can’t remember which) until midnight, then go to find a love hotel... Both are usually drunk by then.. lol
I am sure it hasn’t changed too much.
Christmas, especially, is all about business ($$$).
I believe, after they surrendered, with all of the troops stationed there, they picked up many of our habits and adapted more to their culture or benefit.
I’m guessing a good Chardonnay with a Big Mac isn’t written about in Food & Wine magazine.
XD XD XD... that’s awesome.
I don't know why they just didn't change the name to "Sam & Bob's."
