Pedophile meets violent end inside California prison
Daily Mail UK ^ | September 19, 2024 | Alyssa Guzman

An elderly pedophile was found dead in his cell inside a California prison with his cellmate now under investigation for his murder.

Mark Squires, 70, was found unresponsive around 3:30 pm on Tuesday by San Quentin prison staff after an alarm was sounded, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) said in a statement.

Emergency services were immediately called and 'lifesaving measures' were performed on the prisoner, who was imprisoned for lewd acts on a child under the age of 14.

Squires was transported to the prison triage area, where medical staff - who were not associated with the prison - declared him dead at 4:04 pm.

His cellmate, Gustavo Lopez, 36, was whisked away and placed in restrictive housing, where he will remain while the prison performs an investigation into the mysterious death.

Prison staff did not reveal how Squires' body was found or what injuries he suffered that led to his death in the alleged homicide.

No other inmates or officers were injured, according to CDCR.

Seventeen inmates' deaths have been ruled a homicide across the state's prisons this year from January to August, according to CDCR data.

Twenty-five inmates died in custody from various causes in August alone, with a total of nearly 250 since January.

Absolutely sick.

Wr live in a sick world where we cheer inmates when they torture and kill inmates that we as a society don’t have the courage to punish ethically.

And cheering freepers are just sick.

For this is about the law and ethics

No. This is about law and appropriate punishment.

Do you really expect democRat and RINO politicians to pass appropriate laws in California to that will administer appropriate justice to pedophiles? What about DA's and judges in California?

I'm surprised they pedo was even prosecuted. We all know that charges were reduced for a quick conviction and that this pervert had probably molested many many children before being arrested and finally convicted.

It seems that "prison justice" was administered my someone with more ethics that most of those California politicians and "officers of the court" who are more concerned with criminals' rights than victims' rights.

Btw, I'll keep an eye out for your post regarding your deeply held concern for victims of pedophiles.

“”punish ethically””

A “person” who attacks, abuses, rapes, sodomizes anyone, let alone young people.

Just what sort of “ethics” do these pedophiles practice?

Should they be sentenced to suffer the kind of “ethics” their victims suffered?

When Ellie Nesler ended the life of her son’s abuser, that abuser would never again hurt, rape, attack....anyone.

Someone imprisoned for car theft should expect to serve his time and come out alive at the end and unmolested.

And ready to pitch for the Indians.

“Absolutely sick.”

It’s long been known inmates do not like child molesters and that the molesters often get their final justice while in the pen. If California did not want this to happen they should have isolated this molester.

I’m thinking of the victims. Those too young to properly defend themselves and emotionally injured for life. With that said I’ll gladly join your sicko club and hope Gustavo Lopez gets a steak supper and a case of beer for his work.

I survived 25 years. Two years at San Quentin, and 23 years somewhere else. I was also lightly assaulted twice, but no harm done. The scariest moment I had, was about 3 AM, I was walking down the stairs, of a two tier level 2 dorm building, after doing the count. The lights went out, and I was only half way down the stairs. I grabbed my keys, to silence them, grabbed the hand rail, and by the grace of God, was able to get back to my partner. We got out of the building, and locked the gate behind us. It was an experience I didn’t want to repeat.

Freepers, frustrated that liberals have destroyed our justice system, are only feeling that justice has been done in another way. They would be thrilled if the criminals had been prosecuted in a just system that put the victim above the perpetrator. But that isn’t the world we live in today.

People who injure children deserve justice to be taken on them.

Powers that be, must have wanted that to happen, or they wouldn’t have put them in that cell.

You obviously have never read rapists case files. If you did you wouldn’t be making such silly and naive statements.

We didn’t have standing counts. But at all major counts we need to see some exposed flesh and physical movement.

If California did not want this to happen they should have isolated this molester.

Sometimes they DO lock them up, for their own safety, but there are certain parameters to meet first. If the dude doesn’t want to be locked up, they won’t lock him up.

"I survived 25 years."

Congratulations!! You are a member of a unique club.

Fortunately whenever the power went out at the last facility I worked at, it was usually during the day, and we had a back-up generator system that kicked in shortly after. We had a separate powerhouse outside the facility that was manned by a civilian and an inmate or two during the day shift, and a civilian on the other two shifts, so there was always 24-hour coverage.

Only our 5 PM count was mandatory standing. I agree with the policy.

I have no problem with it either. But those decisions were way above my pay grade.

We had back up generators too, but sometimes they didn’t work, like that time. It came back in 5 minutes. By then, there was debris all over the place. The inmates started throwing stuff around, as soon as the lights went.
Once, when I was a controller, I had a bunch of airplanes flying around the pattern, when I lost commercial power, and the back up generator failed. Here I was, with airplanes up the wazzoo, and I couldn’t do anything about it. I had one commercial landline. I called the radar facility, and they made the call on guard, that the airport was now uncontrolled. All the aircraft landed on their own. It was hairy, but they all landed safely.
