Okay Free Republic has been the best place for libertarian and conservative ideas for decades. And truly my place to post and view comments.
X is more evolved and many also love that forum. Any suggestions that could keep FR relevant. It seems it will be a 'dinosaur' of the 90's if nothing changes.
To be clear - FR is truly the best website. Simply stating it may be gone soon - 'can't fence time and change'.
Does Drudge still post a link to here?
If not, I wonder since when?
One indication is that prepper threads saw up to 10,000+ posts, while today even 100 would be exceptional.
Part of FReeper pollard home page:
nw_arizona_granny's Prepper Threads
nw_arizona_granny's Prepper Threads from FR's Clinton era:
Then there were
The decline of Christian faith and rise of social media and many blogs and the median age increase. Thank God for what is good.
“Times Have Changed”.
This site has not.
That is the appeal.
I’ve been here for a minute. I think I’ll stick around and see how this all works out……….
RLTW
There is a dramatic change and strong presence of neo isolationists and the absence of many good minds that were chased away
That requires nothing more than deployment of the Viking Kitties upon identification and call out.
I mainly use FR as a place to get the articles to post and comment on for Gab/Truth/X....
Back in ‘98 he did. I haven’t visited the drudge site in years, I know Drudge is still on the home page here, under Media Links.
“It needs to be able to post memes and pictures easily.”
Agreed.
Oh, so YOU want to be the FR “Fact Checker”.
No thanks.
There are indications that more conservatives died from covid than non-conservatives. Of course you can always say the sources are biased. About anything.
Because I love conspiracy theories, I would say that if covid was planned, then it was planned to wipe out more conservatives than liberals.
X/Twitter is still censoring, shadow banning, and canceling accounts. Not by the amount as before but certainly noticeable even by some FReepers.
Shadow Banning is the website doesn’t show someone’s comments to others. So, instead of reaching perhaps a million people they might reach 100 per day. It is happening across X.
Yes. Rush Limbaugh was that once in a century mix of Ben Franklin and Mark Twain. When he died, I turned off my radio, and I haven't had a reason to turn it on since.
I think I’ve been here longer than most.
But PLEASE don’t stop FR from running on my XP Windows.
PLEASE!!!
Here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about...
VIDEO: Pro-Palestinian Protester Gets Shot When He Charges at Israel Supporter
Breitbart ^ | 09/13/2024 | AWR Hawkins
Naturally I didn't want to go to Breitbart and wait and watch ads and unrelated videos pop up in order to see the video in question, so I copied the first sentence -Cell phone video shows a pro-Palestinian protester getting shot upon charging across the street, allegedly to tackle a supporter of Israel - and pasted it in X.
This is what I got. Perfect fast immediate results
“It needs to be able to post memes and pictures easily.”
Agreed.

You’ll never have to type in and post the html img scr nonsense again.
It does seem to be taking longer and longer for the pledge drives to complete.

I’m a newbie. Only been here since 2005. But I can tell you this - FReepathons have always last between 85 and 90 days. And then they reach their goal. Only to begin again in 2-3 days.
In other words Freepathons basically run 365 days per year.
Not sure of purpose of your comment. I did not argue that sites aren’t attempting to show popups or other ads; simply stated that I didn’t see any. Brave Shields in standard mode shows 38 ads blocked on Fox News front page.
The reason the world is such a mess is some people think change for the sake of change is good.
Wisdom to me is preserving something that is sound and very, very simple.
That is what makes FR perfect.
I would be in favor of the current setup for users who do not contribute. But monthly givers would have an “enhanced experience” or whatever the marketing team calls it. Lol.
No
easy means drop picture here on the website. Anything else too primitive.
