While off the Japanese island of Chichijima on this day in history on Sept. 2, 1944, then-future President George H.W. Bush was the only survivor after his aircraft was shot down by enemy fire, according to the National WWII Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana.
At the time, Lt. Junior Grade George Bush was a pilot with Torpedo Squadron Fifty-One (VT-51) aboard the aircraft carrier USS San Jacinto (CVL-30), a light carrier that was deployed in the North Pacific, according to U.S. Naval History and Heritage Command.

Same graft. Different beneficiaries. Slightly slower timeline to the decline.
Very true
Then GHWB returned to civilian life and became a member of the
Deep State.
The elder Bush was a good guy. Things went downhill with W.
The bad HW reelection campaign against Clinton was a disaster.
I looked up to Reagan and Bush big time when I was young
Good man but got co-opted by the borg and new ideologies he failed to understand
I don’t think he understood the Reagan revolution
Mr. NWO read-my -hips was not a good guy.
His hips did lie.
Anyone who flew planes into battle in that war gets my respect. Flying off a ship? That’s just crazy ballsy.

He was the most recent combat veteran to be elected President.
Pray that he didn’t. He made Klinton POTUS.
I thank him for his military service (even though I didn’t care much for his presidency).
GHWB shot down/ditched nearby the Japanese controlled island Chichi Jima. The aviators picked up offshore by sub were lucky. The ones that drifted over/captured were killed by the war criminal commander of the island, (he ate their livers).
It was only after his death that details were released on the other two aircrews who weren’t rescued.
Japanese captured them, and the Jap island commander ordered those American aircrewmen EATEN...!
Post-war testimony disclosed captured Americans were tied to trees and “fresh” pieces cut off as needed.
My sons and I watched In Harms Way the other nite
Otto Preminger film
It wasn’t bad
Last of black and white wwiii flicks
I have hated the Bushes ever since.
A bonified hero and there were cameras there to capture the moment... Pretty amazing. And then he got beat by a left wing lunatic who dodged Vietnam, because a dude named Ross Perot wanted to be President... And he had the cash to do it.
