How a Far-Right Takeover of Georgia’s Election Board Could Swing the Election

Josh McKoon, the chair of the Georgia Republican Party, boasted at the state convention in late May that he had “very good news.”

Georgia Republicans had just orchestrated a takeover of the state election board, an unelected body that sets voting rules. With this new majority, Republicans could enact an agenda that would help former President Donald J. Trump win in November, Mr. McKoon said.

“I believe when we look back on Nov. 5, 2024, we’re going to say getting to that 3-2 election-integrity-minded majority on the state election board made sure that we had the level playing field to win this election,” he said.

Since the takeover, the Georgia State Election Board has approved a host of rules on certifications and investigations backed by right-wing election activists who claim, falsely, that the 2020 election was stolen from Mr. Trump. The moves underscore a sharp rightward turn for what is supposed to be an apolitical body and have alarmed Democrats, election officials and even some Republicans.

“Clearly, the Trump allies have learned their lessons from the failure of the attempted coup of 2020, and they’re starting earlier and attempting to burrow more deeply into the most vulnerable pieces of the election system,” said Norm Eisen, a longtime Washington lawyer and chair of the State Democracy Defenders Fund, a nonpartisan election watchdog group.

If there is another chaotic challenge to the election results this November, Georgia is shaping up to be a hot spot, as it was in 2020. Polls show a close race in the state. Trump-aligned election activists there are well organized. Republican county officials have already shown a willingness to adopt practices from the election denial wing of the party. And the state election board will almost certainly be at the center of...

As opposed to the current far left control of voting machines?

“far right” to the NYSlimes means something like
honest elections
voter ID
only USA citizens vote
they only vote once
honest vote=counting
each citizen’s vote is counted only once
honest results reporting

no wonder the NYSlimes is upset, ha!

Is there a “far” left according to the NYTs?

How often do they use that term, “far” left?

It’s pretty bad when you have to pull off a soft coup just to get free and fair and non-fraudulent elections. But that is, sadly, where we are.

No mail in ballots. If you have already ordered one, then bring it in person, with ID, to the poll.

Ah, here comes that evil “far-right” again. Does the NYT ever describe any person or group as “far=left,” even when they openly avow Marxism?

Stopping voter fraud is a threat to the DNC. They would not win a single election without it.

The 2020 election was lost because of Raffensperger’s insane consent decree with the Democrat Party. It changed the way the SoS, office who is responsible for elections, oversees and controls things like comparison of absentee ballot signatures with actual registration signatures. IOW, he took away any recourse voters had in challenging fraudulent absentee ballot submissions.

He, his chief-of-staff, the former LT Governor and Governor Kemp don’t give a flip about national conservatism getting power, IMO. I’m glad it’s Kemp’s last at-bat time and I sure won’t be supporting any Raffensperger campaign for Governor if that’s his game.

And by preventing and punishing violations.

I am not paying to read the rest. But what you posted is long on hand waving, accusations, and assertions, but completely lacking specifics. There is not one single instance of any new rule cited that might imaginably deny any qualified voter the right to vote however he or she wanted to.

What, specifically are these wascally weepublicans up to, pray tell?

Yup, leave it to the corrupt and dishonest NYT to call making elections fair and honest “far right”. That’s because, to the NYTs, anything but far left and democrat cheating cannot be accepted and must be denigrated as far right. We owe a great deal of the problems in this country to the NYT and other Left Wing media as much as we owe it to the Democerats and Far Left (but then I repeat myself)

>>I sure won’t be supporting any Raffensperger campaign for Governor if that’s his game.

Sadly, he will be overseeing the election that will magically “elect” him as Governor. Voter support is irrelevant.

Almost all the 2020 fraud occurred in:

1. Atlanta, and

2. Philadelphia

Focusing on the ballot stuffing in those two cities would swing the election.

I was interviewed by a NY Times reporter about the causes of the financial crisis. I said then NY Governor Andrew Cuomo (former HUD Secretary) was partly to blame. I sent him a video of Cuomo saying that giving mortgages to people who have never had a mortgage EVEN IF THE DEFAULT was good policy. His reponse? “I can’t write that! I would get fired!”

So much for the NY Times being the leading truth teller (according to my private school educated in-laws).
